This whole community is hurting right now. All three of these families needs everyones prayers not there own personal opinions of the kids. Everyone makes mistakes today just happened to be the worst outcome possible. If Dustin was on drugs or not I am sure he is going through pure h@*l. Him and his family need your prayers also he is the one that will have to live the rest of his life with what happened today. RIP Dylan and Raymond!!!

I don't think it matters how it happened. I think the only thing that should be said is how sorry everyone feels for all families involved. Dustin is absolutely miserable and he is a good kid and I think all bad comments should be kept to yourselves. I think he will be miserable the rest of his life, but he doesn't need a constant reminder of what happened from other people--believe me he will not forget about Dylan and Raymond.

people going through the loss of raymon and dylan don't wanna hear this ....
i loved raymond, he was a very good friend-
and i can't believe how you can jus say that, knowing that people are going through this and don't want to hear that stuff"
hear what...the truth? Im sorry that this had to happen, but it just shows what goes around comes back around. Its sad, it sucks, but why is everyone afraid to look at the reality of the situation? As i said, i feel sorry for the FAMILIES that are having to deal with the loss, and im just wondering if the one whose lucky to be alive will have learned his lesson, or if he will just go back to the same life that he was leading..only time will tell
You are the biggest A S S in the world. There are mourning families that are going to read this and you have the audacity to post negative things about their loved ones? I can only pray for everyone involved and to you i'm not going to be as petty to wish the worst but to hope and pray that one day you realize what it really means to lose family and how impactful words really are.
- to the families you all have love here hopefully who ever this is grows up...

well, my son heard at school that they were heading into town and that they sideswiped another car. The driver slammed on the brakes and swerved to try and miss the other car and went off the right side of the road and went through a utility pole. From the looks of the skid marks right there near Patterson Rd that seems very possible. Now this is just hear say from kids at the high school, but it looks like it could be fairly accurate.

sometimes things happen without any reasonable explanation, whether they were doing drugs or not, this isn't the place to start placing blame on others. It was a tragic accident that occurred regardless of your personal feelings about the boys. we all do dumb things when were young and for some reason it catches up it some and others it doesn't. this is hard for everyone in the community and especially the families and friends of the boys involved. Im sure dustin is wishing like hell right now that he could trade places with dylan and raymond, this is something he will have to live with the rest of his life and lets hope that he will not let the passing of his friends be in vain and that he will live his life as a tribute to his friends. God bless the families and friends of all these boys and remember to always tell the ones closest to you that you love them because you just never know.

Thank you for posting a true version of what happened. My heart and prayers go out to all three families. The loss of such young kids is so tragic and I'm sure that all of this will haunt the young man who was driving. Please watch what you say as the families will be reading this and let him mourn and cope with all of this in private. The last thing he needs right now are the hypocrites on here making judgements about him.

These boys may have had horrible things going on in their lives but they need praed for right now . I hope they passed on into heaven .They were only here for a short while in our lives and taken for a reason. Dustin needs alot of support right now he's gonna have this in his mind forever now he dont need all this stuff being said. What would you do if he was your kid? You wouldnt like all this said about your kid. Or if you lost a child like this. This town needs to pull together for these familys.

there is an article in the Palladium-Item today- unfortunately from what it sounds, bad decisions and choices were made here at least by the driver of the car with the two deceased in it- not sure if those two had also been drinking/drugs or not. They were all under legal drinking age so where the alcohol came from- big question.
I don't know these boys or their families and my heart goes out to them. Unfortunately, another tragic situation that could have so easily been avoided had some common sense been used.

Unfortunately people are going to discuss this and people do have a right to- sad as it is, it does become everyone's business when there are people out on the roads under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs that could take the life or alter an innocent person's life at any second. We see this everyday on the news, in our own towns, etc. It's very hard to sympathize with someone who knowingly gets behind a wheel and risks their own life or anyone else's for that matter. It's just a fact. And yes, I agree, harsh words won't help anything but hurt others- but fact is fact.

This accident has shattered the town of Liberty... It was effected everyone in some way shape for form... People who didn't even know these three young men are heart broken... Let this town cope with this accident and leave the Dustin alone... Yes what he did was wrong however who are you or us to judge him. All of us will be judged at some point. Stop judging him for the whole town to see. We are already hurt enough. He is sitting in jail right now and we have no idea the state of mind he is in. He just took the life of his best friend leave him alone.

LIBERTY, Ind.-- Two Union County teenagers died Wednesday in a two-car accident on Old Brownsville Road.Raymond Reece Jr., 19, of Brownsville, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, Sheriff Eric Cantrell said.

Dylan R. Lee, 18, of Liberty, died before emergency workers could load him into the emergency helicopter, Deputy Dale Dishmond said.

The driver of the vehicle in which Reece and Lee were riding, Dustin A. Brashears, 18, was arrested and charged with two counts of causing a death while driving while intoxicated, Class C felonies. He also was charged with driving while intoxicated, a Class A misdemeanor. Brashears tested positive for marijuana, Dishmond said.

The driver of the other vehicle, Danielle R. Murray, 20, of Brownsville was not injured, Cantrell said.

Murray was westbound on Old Brownsville Road, just west of Patterson Road just after noon, when Brashear's vehicle, a 1982 Camero, crested the hill, Cantrell said. Brashear's car sideswiped Murray's vehicle, knocking off her side mirror and then skidded off the right side of the road and struck a utility pole on the passenger side, Cantrell said.

Lee was in the front passenger seat and Reece was in the right rear passenger seat, Dishmond said. Both suffered massive internal injuries, Dishmond said.

Brashears told officers he was traveling at about 70 mph when the crash occurred and skid marks showed he was over the road's center line, Dishmond said.

Brashears suffered minor injuries and was treated and released at Fayette Regional Health System, Cantrell said. He remains in the Union County Jail on $3,300 bond.
