A web site opposed to the new Libby Mine near Libby Montana has disappeared. http://www.alternativeone.org was the single opposition web site for the upcoming mine. Calls and email to the last know address have gone unanswered.
One of the web site founders was arrested last December on fraud charges and was recently sentenced in a case in Flathead County, Montana. Cases in additional 4 states are still pending.
"It's not uncommon for web sites to disappear", said Ken Bowers of Computer Support Specialist. "The owners of the web site may not even know that the site is missing. Most of the times it's the hosting service that pulls the web site down for lack of payment to maintain the site".
Alternativeone was a grass roots effort by 2 individuals to curtail development of a copper and silver mine near Libby Montana. The permitting process is continuing.
