After a two and one half year investigation by the FDIC, First Bank and several of their employees were sued today by a Nashville Lawfirm in a 13 page law suit that alleges failure to comply with federal law, misuse of appraisals and conducting illegal foreclosures. This is after the bank received 50 million in TARP money from the federal government to keep it in business. It will be interesting to see how this turns out. Word of caution, if you bank with First Bank, be sure your loans are in compliance with federal laws. Two of the banks local appraisers have been reprimanded by their regulator and sent back to school. One banker, James E. Chavez, banned from banking for life from the FDIC, google it to see the consent order. James E. Chavez First Bank FDIC. Wonder how many people in Henderson County have been screwed by First Bank and don't even know it. First Bank's motto is "where you matter most". Maybe it should instead be "we don't have customers, just victims who don't realize it yet" Email WBBJ and tell them you would like them to run a story on the First Bank law suit. Don't believe this? Check it out at the Henderson County Court House - Chancery Office

I'm sure this bank has done a few good things for some people, but everybody you talk to knows somebody who claims to have been taken advantage of by this bank. This bank has got very strong by taking advantage of working class people who did not have the means or the ability to fight back. My experience with this bank is that they are a bunch of bullies. Read the Paris town topix, they really love this bank.

$50 million tarp loan and only paid back $13 million so far. Check out their debt to asset ratio. http://banktracker.investigativereportingwork...

In my opinion, for what it's worth, First Bank is like the Soprano's of West Tennessee.
