Absolutely Correct, Ronnie was the one that they were waiting for to pin all of the final debt on!

The saddest part about this is that Ronnie is one of the kindest men I have ever known, and I have known him for at least 20 years. The Homegold execs saw a scapegaoat in him, approached him, and he was too naive to turn them down. A 20 year sentence is outrageous, the original perpertrators of this collapse have received VERY mild sentences. Earle Morris convicted on 23 counts of securities fraud, gets 44 month sentence, Anne Owen 8 counts, 18 months HOUSE arrest and 90 DAYS confinement, Larry Owen 22 counts, gets 8 years and now elegible for parole. But Ronnie gets 20 YEARS for 3 counts and he walked into this mess, he DIDN'T create it. What is wrong with this picture? All of you that have posted such negative comments about Ronnie should be careful what you say, you obviously have no intimate knowledge of the situation. As for the guy who has known Ronnie 20 years and hates him, he must be one of the guys who couldn't perform to the high standards Ronnie set for his employees. He can take comfort in knowing that he has plenty of company, most folks couldn't even begin to come close to the work ethic Ronnie has. It is this ethic that made him a wealthy man. He EARNED his wealth, he gave away millions, gave back practically ALL the money he made while at Homegold. He doesn't deserve this.

You are very ignorant to the actual facts of this
misguided justice system.
Every one of thos e investors knew the risk of reaping those huge percentage rates, cant get your money back from Vegas either when you lose it gambling. It doesnt matter how many retired citizens come strolling thru Vegas crying, Still not getting their cash back. Same difference!

I worked for Homegold. I never met Ronnie but I can say the fear that would come over the employee's when he walked in the room was horific and out right wrong. I know of the manangement of Homegold and they would also try to manage with fear. The insider mentality and the" Witness protection plan" that was in place with people that were (Jehovah witness's) was wrong as well. the whole place was a complete and utter screw up being run by small minded and ignorant people. Some didnt know any better. Some did and took advantage of it. I remeber the day I left Homegold. I shook the dust off my feet and asked God to deal with the managment of Homegold severly if it was his will. I guess God is still in the business to answering prayer and Homegold is out of Business. I wanna vomit when I think back and remember that company. I will say I did hear that Ronnie was a hard worker and forced people to work just as hard and was a slave driver in the company before Homegold. I also heard of the wake of people and lives he destroyed. He(HomeGold) almost got me. I guess I was one of those smart yankees. Im sure Poeple will read this and know who I am. See Ya in the next life....

I said that in a broadcast e-mail the day I left. Funny history does repeat its self.

The guy was a crook. He spent money like there was never going to be an end. A 10,000 square foot house in one of the more upscale neighbor hoods in Lexington (where all the other crooks live, example the Burger King franchise owner who refused to pay the franchise fees, resulting in all midlands burger kings being shut down). A Prevost touring bus (what does a mortgage person need a Prevost for). Hey spending other people’s money is easy, real stand up guy. South Carolina business will really suffer with the loss of such a ethical business leader.

I remember that bus. I remember the stories of that house. I heard he forced people to work around the clock. A Real wack job. People of afraid of standing up for themselves because he held a dollar in his hand and people needed that dollar. He clearly took advantage of people. He clearly ran that buisness (Homegold) into the ground. The only man I ever know to be able to squeeze blood from turnips. It wasnt a pretty site. A lot of people suffering still becasue of the lost money they invested and a lot of people still suffering from the bad memories. Dont know which is worse. I guess if youre an elderly person not able to take care of themselves now because of Carolina investors that is the worst. God help those people and God help those company executives.

Does anyone know who HomeGold sold to? I was an employee of HomeGold in Phoenix, and they shut down my department in December of 2002. I was told that it was sold to another company and our west coast operations center was being shut down. I am trying to get a number to HR, or whomever would have the employee records (employee hire & start dates, etc.). Does anyone know? Thanks for the help.
I worked in Phoenix as well. I was the coolest computer geek you guys ever had before moving to Houston to help open that office. After the fireworks started going off with Lori all of a sudden showing up out there and taking over -- we knew it was time to dodge that bullet. I hope all is well Jeff.( sorry this is so late )

I moved to take a position with HomeGold in Lexington at HQ, thankfully for a very short time. The majority of the managers there, including Ronnie are about as dumb as a box of rocks, several lacking a diploma from high school. The most moronic idea I've seen an executive team come up with "Let's open more shops to try and "outgrow" our losses". Instead they lost more and cooked the books to try and prove out this method. How stupid!

I noticed you referred to the "Now infamous john Mcshane." I believe that he is now perpetrating fraud in California and I would like to have any information you may have on him. [email protected] m

I was unfortunate to be sucked into this disaster back when McShane was stil with them and thru whom the employees like to call Satan aka Ronnie. Ronnie is evilness and greed rolled into some really nicely tailored suits. Glad he is where he is and by the way Ronnie.......don't drop the soap sucker.
