I love it, your criticisms of Tommy are that..."I heard he boasted after susan smith" or "i saw on dateline". Real intellectual deductions there relying on media and hearsay to draw conclusions. The rest of the criticisms are simply the bias of criminals and their families. Sorry, the average citizens of york county appreciate the job Tommy did in protecting our citizens and punishing the guilty.
You are right, the people in the county of York, SC do love Tommy, and to prove it, we are about to elect him to the House this November.:)

Pope reputation will be forever tarnished for the way he treated Sterling Spann. That he allowed an Alford Plea of a man he claimed was guilty of a gruesome murder speaks volumes that he did not think Spann was a threat to society.

In fact, Spann was innocent, but Tommy Pope never cared to drop charges or to not prosecute after Spann's conviction was thrown out by the SC Supreme Court. Not only was Spann innocent, but he could have potentially been executed as an innocent man. Quite a lesson for us all.

Thanks to sour grapes for coming to Tommy's defense. As for the rest of you, I find it a bit upsetting that you would insult he and his family. As a relative I would appreciate a little more respect for a family who has dedicated much of their lives to the service of York County, most notably Tommy, Elbert, and Lib.
The whole county is corrupt and he was their leader. He didn't care about how much planted evidence there is, he didn't see them slip that in. How many innocent people has this man put in prison for life? Death? He will spend his existence in purgatory but I really wish he would burn in hell! A human who cares for nothing but winning cases, no matter how corrupt, disgusts me. I hope to see him so that I can spit in his face. I hope I can do it in front of his family so that they can see how thoroughly disgusting and corrupt he is! If he ends up being taken out, I will cheer as long as its not done in front of his children, they will go through enough hell when they find out what their father is. For their sake, I hope mom had a fling!!

As for you standing up for him, I don't blame you. I would stand by my family in almost any case. That is... Unless he is part of murder, which he has been. I would love to hear why he is stepping down. Since nobody is saying, I'm assuming some of the corruption came out and he is getting out quick before they find his path of destruction.

Burn in hell you murderer!!

Yes, Tommy Pope needs to quit. He has only proven that he will do ANYTHING to win no matter what. His unjust treatment throughout the Spann trial only proves that Pope is deceitful, ego driven and untrustworthy. The voters in this state should have fired this jerk long ago. Every time, he needed something new against Spann, others in charge came up with something new, up to and including "remembering" that Spann had a piece of jewelry on him from the second murder, one that was never charged FOR 20 YEARS. I GUESS THEY FORGOT ABOUT THAT EVIDENCE TO THE EXTENT THAT IT WAS NEVER LOGGED AND THEY "LOST" IT EVEN though no one was ever charged for that murder until after almost 20 years and when Spann's retrial was commencing. What a hail Mary pass for Pope and this jerk used it. I guess it is true that some people had no conscience and Pope had proven it. GOODBYE AND GLAD YOU ARE FINALLY LEAVING!!! I just wonder how many others you railroaded instead of protecting the public,

All Pope cared about was making sure Spann couldn't sue for compensation. Spann's life was ruined the poor guy spent all that time locked up on death row. I can't even imagine what that would do to a person. He deserves compensation for his pain and suffering and all the time he lost.

This video is an excerpt of a John DeCamp interview where he retells a conversation he had with Cardinal Ratzinger (now Pope Benedict XVI) regarding The Franklin Cover-Up and the Boy’s Town child sex-abuse scandal. This interview is important because it might acknowledge the current pope’s awareness of government involvement in child sex abuse.

Oh Sugar don't kid yourself, you could not have won that trial. No question about your GED education.

No big deal.
I heard he boasted about the Susan Smith trial. However, it was a "no brainer". She confessed. Even I could've prosecuted that one.
While we're on the subject...people felt bad cause she lied. what? She
killed her children....I'd lie too...we all would.
And she blamed a black what? If she had've said "a tall man", would the tall men of America revolt?
I think people like to complain about anything.
Bye Tommy.

Tommy Pope hung himself...his true colors came shining through when the entire world saw him for what he really is - a liar. As with most government officials today he lied, cheated, covered-up and did himself in. Just another corrupt official fallen by the wayside. Thank God he's gone and can do no more harm to anyone.
