We would all be a lot better off if the news journal would just stick to football scores and comics.Investigate reporters my ass, make mountains out of mole hills, is this a real newspaper or a cheap tabloid?

The real problem is they are connected to the police and court system. If you have not done so, I would suggest getting a copy of "Rotten to the Core" by Martin Yant. Things in Mansfield have not changed a bit.

Oh,yes how could one forget the 70S in good ol Mansfield. Sheriff Wikel and his gang of hoodlums.
I will never forget the picture on the front page of Gene Hart handcuffed to a cell. Makes you kind of wonder why everyone moved out of that hell hole.
I had hoped that things had changed over the years.
From what i hear through the grapevine not much really has. Its a dying town, and no-one seems to have a clue as how to resurect it. Such a shame because it is one of the most beautiful areas in Ohio. Yes, i remember the book (rotten to the core)
it was the truth. Hey, does anyone remember what happened to Shaun Kerney. The cops set him up on a murder charge, then killed him. Only problem was he was left handed and they made it look like a suicide
shooting himself with his right hand. Then the cop who was involved in the girls murder just left town.
Heard he was working in law enforcement down in Florida. Talk about the good ol boys! I had hoped the tourch had moved on with the passing of time.
Most of the crooked judges and attorneys from those days are now dead or retired.

HOw about the crooke priests at St Peter in Mansfield. He was murdered in the 80's in Broward Cnty Florida. He had been molesting young boys in Mansfireld for years. How about that for corruption. You don't see the News journal reportin that, do ya? You're right. Corruption....

Yeah, I remember Shaun Kerney. He was dating a cops wife. Do you rember the cops wife that strangled herself? Most of the murdered women were reported to be prostitutes the day after they were murdered. I think it's the influence of the wonderful prisons that mansfield begs for. Even the treatment centers and rehabs bring people in from other states and release them into the community.

The mpd and sheriff has not changed at all they still kick in peoples doors, but now with the dog warrden ardins help and point guns in kids faces shaming them, with no search warrant might i add that and justify it as always and yet they win awards for this great behavior, and a few are talking about taking peoples kids and giving them the ass beating they should get. CORRUPTION AT ITS FINEST. How many more UNSOLVED MURDERS does mansfield need or should they look at their own?

It is a strange coincidence that you mentioned the connections of the paper and the police. It appears that our local newspaper in Clinton County allows the Blanchester Police Chief to write his own articles, submit them to a reporter who then submits the article as her own. At least that is what it appears to be. Who knows the truth. It is between the two of them. I only know that this particular reporter is not one to use the big words that the Police Chief uses about himself.

I hope you said that with a grimace. Reading about the truth of corrupted officials takes away from your perfect world. Lets hope your life or your family's is never affected by injustice no matter where it is.

I would agree corruption is overthe top with mansfield police. My daughter was driving , had her boyfriends 15 yr old daughter in car they were hit by a big SUV who ran red light . He then tried to push the car out of the way. The Mansfield POlice won't do anything about it. even when they have 30 witnesses and a license plate number too. She is getting lawyer now to sue them ( The police Dept) since they wont do anything ... More about this or the one who rear ended her 3 weeks ago. The police have both cars impounded and all they keep saying is its under investigation. If it doesn't deal with a cops child or drug or prostition its a mull point. YES they are ok but the passenger the passenger had a brain bleed so keep them both in your prayers plz.

I grew up in Mansfield in the 70s and not only do I remember the Boyle case, I went to school with the so called "mistress." It's a fascinating case. v.kakavas@cox.net
