Full story: 10TV WBNS 39
A store clerk's mistake led to a big win for both her and a customer. At Woolfe's Huff and Puff Mini-Mart, clerk Naomi Mauller made a mistake when she was ringing up a customer who was purchasing a lottery ticket, 10TV's Andy Hirsch reported on Tuesday. Full Story

If they would've bought their tix in Pennsylvania, and they would "megaplied" their bets. The ticket would've been worth $1 Million. That's $750,000 after taxes. They don't take out a state or local tax on lottery winnings in Pennsylvania. But there's no kicker in Pennsylvania.

The customer get ripped off of $250,000. Had the clerk not made the initial mistake the customer would have won the entire $500,00. Both are not winners. I'd sue her for lost income.

SmartLady - we are happy for both of them, but if you were him, walked in with the numbers you wanted to play and wanted the kicker, and she made the mistake that ended up costing her a buck or five but cost you 250K before taxes, would you not be just a little miffed? She essentially played your number on a mistake and won half of your number's money. Some-one wasn't being mean in their post - just pointing out a 250K error.
Well, I happen to know what really happened, and it was actually the customer's mistake. He won just as much as she did, and he did not make it clear what ticket he wanted. She reused his numbers on his new ticket. They both won, so I just don't see what the harm is in this situation. Also, she told him she'd go ahead and purchase the mistaken ticket herself. He did not object, ask to talk to a manager, or anything like that. In fact, he even approved of it. The media does not always report things accurately. I know that from personal experience too.

NO! The customer would not have won $500,000 because he would not have bought another ticket! Read my previous reply about this. The customer even agreed to it. Some people just aren't happy with someone else having the same thing they do. It's not your loss, so butt out of it!

The customer could have bought both tickets but he choose not to. Congrats to the Clerk!

Excuse me, but she purchased the ticket, and the the customer bought another ticket with the same numbers and he also won. Can't you be happy for someone beside yourself? You sound like a case of sour grapes to me.
Oh, I'm certainly happy for both of them. I only said I'd have been mad had that happened to me. Of course, if that had been me, I'd have purchased the original ticket as well. I really would have wanted to win as much of the winnings for myself. Sorry if that makes me sound like a case of sour grapes. I'm only human.

No matter what, if you play the lottery, your odds of winning are super slim. Go ahead and pretend to support education! I think its just making the extortionists rich. That's right, the gov't is filled with people who want to get rich off of your money. Why else would they be in the business?

So basically, because she made the mistake, the person who had the intention to buy the ticket with those numbers got owned due to the split..HAHA

Clerks are not permitted to purchase tickets that were sold in error here in Canada. The customer ordered $15 dollars in tickets, but the clerk entered the wrong number and voided the tickets that were in error. Unfortunately, one of the voided tickets was worth a cool $30 Million!

You can do the same. google search for a daily 3 system, pick 3 methods and you will find a lot of information that is useful in playing the lotteries. Seek and you shall find. If not then let those who seek their feeling and hunches continue as they did and found a handful of joy.

How is it that the clerk is eligible to win anything? We are told repeatedly that clerks can win or even play the lotteries. Maybe if they were banned as they are supposed to be, then we wouldnt have to keep hearing the stories of how clerks steal winning tickets and pay off the REAL winners with $10 scratchoffs.

She didn't win $250,000 from her mistake...she short changed the actual customer that amount. Rather than voiding the ticket (which presumably can be done as it is done in most other jurisdictions around the world), she bought it. As a result, instead of one winner with $500,000, there are now two winners splitting the prize.
