I'd have been mad if I had to share the jackpot with her because she made a mistake on my ticket!

Excuse me, but she purchased the ticket, and the the customer bought another ticket with the same numbers and he also won. Can't you be happy for someone beside yourself? You sound like a case of sour grapes to me.

SmartLady - we are happy for both of them, but if you were him, walked in with the numbers you wanted to play and wanted the kicker, and she made the mistake that ended up costing her a buck or five but cost you 250K before taxes, would you not be just a little miffed? She essentially played your number on a mistake and won half of your number's money. Some-one wasn't being mean in their post - just pointing out a 250K error.

For those of you who do not know how the lottery is played yet still feel the need to post comments, let me explain something...

If you get all 5 numbers matching but not the "Mega Ball" you get $250,000 no matter what. It does not matter if 100 tickets all have 5 matching numbers, you all get $250,000. The mistake did not cost the customer anything.

Now, if she would have matched all 5 and the "Mega Ball" then, yes, she would have had to split the earnings, but since that did not happen... as the saying goes, "no harm, no foul".

I am happy to see someone that is well deserving win some of the lottery $$$$,you go have a blast while you're still able to enjoy life, so many people have to work all their lives & never have the $$$ to really do what they want, vacation, special purchases, donate to a special cause, share with family members....I am happy for you!!
Congratulations and best wishes to you!!!

I'd spend the entire $250k at Dreamgirls in one night. You can't put a price on memories.

Thanks, Average Joe! I sold lottery tickets for many years and wondered how there was a $500,000.00 winner on Mega Millions. It had to be that the identical wagers EACH won $250,000. Nobody had to "split" anything. More misleading reporting; or more likely a lack of research on 10TV's part.

Now that this ladies name is plastered, I think I'll go in saying I'm her long lost brother.

I bet the guy is kicking himself for wanting the kicker. He could have had the entire jackpot if he would have just taken the ticket without the kicker.

Good for them, I hope the extra cash comes in handy when every one says they're related and in need of some cash.

To Kicker: Please read my previous post about how this WASN'T a "split" prize. The original ticket purchaser won his own prize. However, had he accepted the "non-Kicker" ticket, he would have won $250,000.00 TWICE. So, you're right about him kicking himself!
