West 5th

On Saturday 11/26 at approx 2:40, a motorcyclist was struck and died on the corner of Shouf St and West 5th Ave near my home, and nothing was reported by the news or local newspaper.

There seems to be a "void" when it comes to reporting the news in Lexington as a whole, as this is certainly not the only newsworthy information that should have been covered, in fact, nothing ever is. The mainstream Greensboro/Winston media knows nothing about us other than the barbeque festival it seems.

Why is it that Lexington seems to want to maintain this protected little circle oblivious to the real world?

In my opinion, it's because the officials in this town not only seem to want control of life here in general, but they want Lexington to appear as a nice little hamlet with no problems, and although I love this city very much, and there is something to be said for ignorance being "bliss", but there seem to be invisible walls surrounding this place.

This latest accident was the third serious one on West 5th Ave. at or near my home, and none of them were touched by the media.
