Actually, I was the one that called this in to Fox 8. The fire actually started somewhere around 4:45 AM with most of Lexington't units responding. The burnt part of the building is a storage building for Shumakers Furniture whose Showroom is actually located on Cotton Grove Road. The front part of the buildings are occupied by a real estate company. The building was formally part of Period Furniture House.

Hmmm.... Shumakers is having financial troubles.. the fire was not electrical... Am I the only one wondering...could it have been arson and insurance fraud??? Nahhh, no way anything as corrupt as THAT could happen in good ol' Davidson County.......

I would love to see these greedy b$@#$rds get the hefty fines they deserve. Between their furniture and carpet business, they have been screwing customers and employees alike for years and years. And now they have the audacity to attempt to weasel out of some misfortune brought on by their own underhandedness no doubt.

However it would not surprise me if they get away with it from having key person/s in their "good ol boy club. That would be so so typical for Davidson Co.

Just curious. Why were you there at 4:45 AM?

Because I live one block over from the warehouse and heard 20 fire trucks wake me up?

Why, what are you implying??

I know the owners fairly well, and I don't know of any problems!

You admit you "know the owners quite well"? That's interesting.

That makes me find it odd that you called Fox8 instead of them.

Why do you find that odd? the warehouse is not manned and their showroom is miles away?

I am merely stating that if you are friends with them as you say, then it seems to me that you would have their home or cell number on hand. It would only be logical then to assume that you would call your good friends first to tell them that their warehouse is on fire, instead of Fox8.

I heard about a guy that set a fire once and he called it in just because he thought there might be a chance that he'd get interviewed on tv about it. People are strange and will do anything to get on tv.
