I need a Doctor and I have filed for Social Security Disability. Are there any local Dr's that specialize in this. It seems many Doctors do not want the hassle of dealing with S.S.( who can really blame them!).

If anyone knows of a nearby Dr that works with SSD I would certainly be grateful...

You dont need a doctor that specializes in social security disability. You just need to be in regular medical treatment with no alcohol or drug issues. You need to show consistency in your medical treatment, any lengthy time without care makes the judge think you have been improving.

Thank you for the response, I do have many years of "Paper trail" documenting my case etc. But developing that case history doesn't happen without a Doctor. And I need a new PCP. And many doctors do not want the hassle of dealing with SSD patients. In fact it is hard to find any dr that will...

I used to handle SSD cases, your many years of documentation are not going to be as effective as the last two years. In fact, if the medical records are over two years old, they are not even considered. If you cant find a PCP, get into a free clinic. The reason doctors do not want to handle SSD cases is because the clients are always asking for the letters stating they are disabled which are in essence, useless to the case. Those letters have been tried so many times, they are not nearly as good as someone who has been treating you all along. Its also a known fact that ssd cases that are chronic pain cases can lead to drug addiction/seeking so doctors shy away from those types of issues and you really cant blame them. I'm not saying you do that, but its a fact. I'm not sure what your disabilities are or whatever, but if all else fails, go to the ER. You will have documentation that you at least tried to get medical attention.

Oh yeah one more thing, if you have any alcohol abuse/drug abuse in your past and the medical documentation states it, you wont win SSD anyway without some sort of verifiable and documented rehab.
