That is very true! The only downside is the watered down education they are receiving. The public schools are to blame for some of the problems we face. We are all to blame. Not just the schools or government or the lawyers, but we all share the blame for the lower values and lacking of morals in our nation. We the people let it happen.
And I second that! Amen!

This Nation needs leadership that is affraid to move forward in the proper direction.A president and congress that leads and votes on virtues. We have too long been concern about insulting this group or that group. Then we pay special detail that insulted group. A good example is the recent Paula Deen uproar. So what she used the "n-word". This word is so insulting and degrading and it really is. But why does the press and the black community make such a big deal out of it and demand that heads roll when it used and yet at any mall in the US you see little street punks calling each that very word. On the same note I am insulted by the free use of the word mother f***er by these same punks. I had my grandson with me once in line for a ride at a county fair and kept a group of boys from the hood using that word. I asked a police officer if he would make them stop and he told me if I was insulted then I should just move away from them. Should I not be able to have my rights too. I am sick and tired of that garbage. It is time for someone with old "John Wayne" beliefs and guts to take the lead. I have thought about runnibg for office myself and I may damn well do it!

The ones swearing did nothing wrong. It is not "disrespectful" unless a really twisted and sick person pretends it is. It is only considered disrespectful because many years ago, a bunch of brain-dead, murdering psychopaths who cannot think for themselves returned to America from meddling in world affairs at the request of the government. Then whatever war ended, and they returned being addicted to power and controlling people. That is what they did when they returned. They immorally made up weird, stupid rules just because "I'm the man" and beat their wives and children mercilessly. Then these murdering savages act like they are made of gold and can do no wrong and demand to be "respected," and arbitrarily pretended everything was "disrespectful".
Putting ANY limits on what another has to say, except to the extent it can harm other people (yelling fire, inciting a riot) is immoral and wrong. I hope the police officers who arrested people for foul language are fired without pension and sued, and ignored by the good cops who are not control freaks should the disgraced control freak cops need assistance.
So someone should just be able to walk up to you and call you everything but a milk cow, while using various profanities... and that would be just Hunky Dorey with you? No.. you would probably want to rip their head off from the neck as would I. There is socially acceptable behavior and what is widely considered socially unacceptable behavior.

Someone telling me from their vehicle to "please move, I'm trying to get through" would probably get the desired results from me. On the other hand, if some poorly raised mongoloid is telling me to "get the F%#K out of the way" he would probably not get the kind response the previous person would have had. For one, the pedestrians more than likely had the right of way in that sort of setting. An annoying law of some sort, was probably made to that effect. Even though the last two sentences are admittedly speculation on my part, he was more than likely creating a public disturbance of some sort. Forcing his car through, cussing at people, etc. If this inconsiderate individual had gotten too close with his car to me or a family member while using his belligerent language, I could see where I might want point out to him the error of his ways. To say it nicely.

The one yelling profanities from a balcony were also more than likely creating a disturbance. The one on his motorbike that was revving the engine and that was repeatedly "asked" to stop swearing and then continued to do so, was simply not a very wise individual. Creating a public disturbance, and then hassling cops trying to give him a break to begin with, tells me that he was a chicken nugget short of a full happy meal.

All of these guys probably had complaints about them phoned in by the public, and to the cops. The cops that you want to have their pensions taken away and fired, simply because they were doing their jobs? No, I don't agree.

I do agree with to rights of freedom of speech, but there is a time and place for profanity. If I go to a comedy show, movie, etc. Yep I'll even let them slip myself from time to time. But never around someone who is or may be offended by it, or around children. It's just called decency and having respect for others.

And those brain dead murdering psychopaths.... were they perhaps called veterans? If so, they for most part had little to do with laws you're griping about. They simply fought (and yes, some died) for the rights that we still do enjoy today, like letting a few of our favorite four letter words fly (as long as we aren't disturbing anyone's peace in doing it).

I find your views interesting, but admittedly somewhat warped. But to each their own. I wish no malice towards you, even if you have a negative to reply to this post. You can even use your favorite 4 letter words.I've probably been called worse.. whatever you may dream up.

Thanks for the warning tally. Perhaps if it's one of your pseudonym's I will be. As I have suspected that you are one that seems to wear many masks, and seems to enjoy argument if just for the unusual and odd thrill that you receive from it. Not all of us get the twisted enjoyment that you often seem to do of simply stirring the proverbial pot.

I will indeed be sorry if I perhaps misunderstood what Spotted Girl had to say. As I've often read and appreciated her posts in the past. Just speaking as a poster who wears but one mask in this forum, I often just read... and offer my 2cents sparingly and let it land where it may. Whether it may be popular or not, is really of no consequence. I'm not in a clique so to speak, nor do I ever expect to be. I have read a few posts of some that perhaps are .... and have appreciated quite a few of them.

But I personally will never stoop so low as to create various names, simply just to give myself positive icons or props. As I have suspected you and and possibly a couple of unnamed others, might perhaps practice in a constant and repetitive nature. If I'm wrong about you.. I do apologize. Those particular actions are simply not in my make up. I admittedly tried it once, in my local forum and was so disgusted with myself... that I swore to never do it again.

Again,as for Spotted Girl making me sorry for my opinion? As I would not and would NEVER question her intelligence as she is obviously very intelligent... I simply see it as simple interaction and the very high probability of a difference of opinion. Her and you... and perhaps a multitude of others, could observantly point out my spelling, punctuation and grammar errors to your hearts content. No news here... I know that I'm not perfect nor am I necessarily always right.

But I tend to believe that I portray my thoughts and my views in a clear enough fashion. And I will defend them to best of my often flawed ability, if I believe that I'm the right, and after looking at all of the available points of views.

Trying to moralize will only put you in the line of fire of the icon trolls. Tally Ho apparently is in good standing with the icon trolls as he has been known to kiss up to them. Spotted Girl does take libertarianism to a very extreme degree and if you tell her she's wrong, she will take it extremely personally.

Maybe "The Matrix" can explain things better than me.

I said what I did before to draw a line in the sand & express myself, never to debate (which I find morally repugnant). I expected others would accept me enough to let it stand without challenge & to move on. Others knew to let me hold & express my beliefs in a vacuum. Each person should have the right to express themselves without being debated, pressured to change, etc. You could have started a new post not addressed to me saying the exact opposite in a vacuum from my post. I intended that to be the last I'd EVER say along that line in this thread. I said what I did, I was done, & moved on. So why pull me back into that?

The cussing would be okay for me because I'm mature enough to see most words as just words. As long as emotional distance is maintained at all times, words are just words. When strangers cuss, it shouldn't offend you, since they're JUST strangers who should mean nothing to you. Cussing's just another valid form of speech. Nobody is born offended to such. No, society gradually destroys your brain & forces you to pretend to be offended & to pretend you're important. It's your fake self & society's lies that cause you to be offended, so it is time to shake off those shackles. It's not offensive unless you have a sick, controlling mind that demands that others "respect" you like you're the only one who matters.

It's only socially unacceptable for those who want it to be. They pretend the words have more weight than others.

To me, "please move" & "GTF out of my way" are equally valid. But sick, self-important folks pretend there's a difference. EVERY time/place is the time for most words. It's immoral to put ANY limits on the free expression of others that can in no way result in material harm to you. Instead of trying to control others, learn to control yourself so that won't bother you. When you realize you're not special & realize that words are just words, you can let them go since they'd never stick in the first place.

A disturbance came only because OTHERS chose to make it one, not the cusser. They should have been arrested instead. A stable person won't make a scene no matter what others say to them. It's like schools trying to ban certain clothing, like NRA shirts, pro-family shirts, & even tiny nose rings nobody notices without looking, & suspending over that. Instead, they should encourage diversity & punish all who react negatively. Sure, that would create more work at first. Children should be exposed to difference & even profanity at an early age to learn not to react to it & to learn to live in their own worlds oblivious to the preferences of others. Think of the Geico commercial where the guy dumped hot coffee on his lap, shrugged, & went back to his newspaper. Or the story where a naked woman stood up in front of a car with a child. Guess what the child noticed first? She wasn't wearing a seatbelt.

I don't know if it is cultural or genetic, but it seems men are more likely to have the negative trait of needing "respected". If enough male ego could be disciplined out of every boy from an early age, there would be no wars, nobody needing "respected" as if they were important.(As for gals, if they weren't exposed to such "masculine" behavior, they wouldn't seek to emulate it.) Men went to wars then came back creating arbitrary rules that turned non-offensive things into offensive things so they could have an excuse to control others.

Most are mixed up about what is profane or indecent. Obscenity is not what you see on HBO. It's going overseas to murder in the name of oil & lying to our people to force us to support such atrocities. What's a more obscene word, f**k or hate?

You seem to have a very good rapport with some of those who have trolled me in the past and have made lame excuses for their behavior and posted as iof it were my fault for being trolled. Your past profession was being a lawyer and your posting on Topix has done little to counter the way lawyers are stereotyped by a majority of Americans.

I have seen some over the top antics in my day by prosecuting attorneys as well. They are no less likely to use deception in order to convict innocent men. Many a conviction has been overturned since the widespread use of DNA. Sorry, prosecuting attorneys do not get a free ride. Unlike Mr. Burger in the black and white Perry Mason shows, most prosecutors are not that quick to concede the innocence of a defendant in the face of overwhelming evidence. They care more about obtaining convictions than they care about the guilt or innocence of a defendant.

And still cares more about obtaining a conviction than caring about whether justice was carried out or not. How many cases have been overturned because of over zealous prosecutors? Prosecutors are still too often measured by whether or not a conviction is obtained as opposed to seeing that justice is properly served.

I once served on a trial where a teen was tried for murder. It was all too obvious that the judge was biased in favor of the prosecution. It was totally unnecessary as the evidence was more than sufficient to convict the defendant.
