Things to do in county

Lees Summit, MO

My family is planning to visit Davidson Co. the week after Christmas. Our main goal is to visit the community of Feezor as that is where our ancestor's lived. We are looking forward to seeing the Feezor cemetery, Feezor Road, and other sites that have our last name. What are some other things that we can do or places to visit within the county? We are looking forward to our trip and want to make the most of our time there.

There's Boones Cave Park off hwy 150 just outside of Lexington. Daniel Boone lived there at one time. There's a cave to explore that is right on the Yadkin River. There's also some neat walking trails. There used to be an old log cabin, not sure if it still is or not, though.

There's High Rock Lake and the HRL Dam.

There's artist Bob Timberlake's gallery.

There's Richard Childress' vineyards & winery in Lexington, as well as his Racing Museum in Welcome. Artist Dempsey Essicks' gallery is also in Welcome.

Lexington's famous for bbq, and there's plenty of BBQ restaurants.

There's Lanier's Hardware. It's an amazing store to find practically anything you can imagine.

I'm sure there's plenty more I haven't thought of. You might want to check out

Thank you so much for responding to my request for information. I think our family will enjoy your suggestions.

As growing up the Daniel Boone's cave was my get away. So quite and peaceful! Last time I was there, people were drinking in the parking lot, and threw cigarette butts onto the ground. And their loud music, ruined the trip. How stupid! No respect for the wonders of beauty! I did pick up the butts they threw onto the ground.
As for the old deer county (off hwy 8) miles from the big dam outlook area, was always something to see and get good pictures.
I remember the Gaddy’s Goose Pond, and the Buffalo Ranch/covered wagon rides.
The good times of all those places, come back as memories, rough winters, hard times. But, always a place to have a glass bottle of Coke & peanuts as a treat. And Gordon's potato chips! And Fat Back (nickname)known as Flag candy.
The live outdoor drama shows were really great to see.
My memories, are still in my heart even though I do not live there.
I also, remember seeing the plane crash in mid air. Was told it was Air force crew.
But, most of all the stories that came with the memories of those whom are gone now.
Being adopted, and desiring many UN-answered questions still remain even to this day. If dream could come true of my real Father.
These memories will always be with me no matter where I am. My search will continue....
