Interesting story in today's online edition about the resignation of Lexington R-V School Superintendent Jim Judd.

Although he gave personal reasons for resigning, the fact is that Judd is going to a smaller school district, Fayette, and TAKING A CUT IN PAY to do so.

What's really going on here?

Yes, insider, but the alternative is to move the two mothers closer to Lexington, and certainly more cost effective since Judd is taking a pay cut at Fayette.

Doesn't seem to pass the smell test. Especially since Wednesday's edition also contained stories about a severe budget crunch for the R-V School District and the resignation of a school principal.

Anybody in the know care to post info anonymously?

But 2 years left on his contract? Which the R-V School Board released him from, apparently without hesitation. A pay cut for him at Fayette. The Middle School principal also resigning, and offering a similar explanation about wanting to be elsewhere. And a severe budget crunch, meaning hard decisions will have to be made in the immediate future.

Call me a cynic, and you're right -- my experiences with public officials in Lexington made me that.

I don't think we're getting the real story here, just as we never got it when the previous (female) superintendent left Lexington.

I've never trusted the Lexington R-V School Board since they hired Brian Eads as Middle School basketball coach back around 2000 ... Eads' sister-in-law, Taffy Morgan, was on the Board at that time, and she knew about his arrest for marijuana possession in 1995, but apparently kept quiet to other Board members and simply abstained from voting on his hiring as required by state law.

Eads' record was wiped clean in the marijuana case as the result of his guilty plea and a Suspended Imposition of Sentence (complete a brief probation, your criminal record is cleared). That's why the MSHP criminal records check on Eads came up clean, so the R-V District could hire him. It's still on the front page of the newspaper from summer of 1995, however.

How do you parents feel about a pothead coaching middle school kids? I don't think Eads lasted very long as coach, once "a concerned citizen" alerted the Middle School Principal and Superintendent at that time ...

I'm proud to endorse Brian Eads for Lexington City Council 4th Ward. The incumbent, who is running unopposed, had this to say in today's online edition of The Lexington News:

"I'm going to be the champion of people ..."
