I think Shayna's actions were not premeditated. I think that it was a crime of passion. Anyone that knows Shayna knows that she is an extremely unstable person and probably has a personality disorder. Plain and simple, she snapped.

No mother or father should ever have to endure the loss of losing their child. Ryan is gone and Shayna's life will never be the same. I know that both of their families truly loved them unconditionally and wanted the very best for both of them.

I cannot imagine the sorrow that both families are going through. Please keep them in your prayers.

Sadly her emotions weren't there, She missed social cues and rubbed many the wrong way. I never saw empathy or true saddness. She was off. Very nice to your face though. She mentioned Ryan was addicted to pain pills and hid it well but she caught him multiple times from her account. No clue about physical abuse but sounded like maybe emotional abuse from her accounts. As for a guy staying with a girl out of pity that's bs, i think he obviously had something for her and it was hot and cold. Many accounts of that, they dated on and off for years. I highly doubt either one is near innocent but as this whole thing unravels we will hopefully understand better as to why. Either way This whole thing is as tragic as it gets. so sad. Condolences to both families and friends

The claim of physical abuse is nonsense. I was friends with both of them during their relationship. Yes he was messed up but has never harmed any woman
You live in Chicago... How would you know?? I think you are full of nonsense.

Let the investigators find out whether physical or verbal abuse played a factor.

Why wasn't her family aware? Well, too late now. She'll be in jail for a very long time. Just curious - was this family overly religious?

she had a lot of mental problems. ive known her ever since elementary school and was always a bright individual. I think the whole city of lexington was shocked when they heard this story hit the news. Do I think she would be the type to do this? Hell yes. I was very good friends with her but I always knew she had that urge to take it over the top. And for the people that have said that she didnt do drugs. SHE DID! I did them with her every now and then but it was recreational. As I would smoke pot she would have pain pills that she would take to make her ease the pain. My sorrows go out to both families, but she is a cold-blood killer and should never ever get out of jail again!

Yes her family is very religious, which is probably why she never had medical help for her problems

She complained to me about how he broke up with her. He was the one who did not want to be with her according to her. She said she wanted nothing more than to be with him. She said she finally convinced him to get back with her. Every other week she would either unexpectedly show up to my house or call me/text crying over how he and her fought and he kept breaking up with her. A lot of what she says comes off as sincere but from conversation to conversation, her story would be faulty and would change. She would lose recollection of the times passed when he broke up with her. It was always a concerning to me as to how she could never, either admit or remember, the last time they fought or broke up. "We only broke up once in March and got back together in July" is what she always said.
She said the same to me about being broke up between march and July.. Sometime in july she told me the reason they broke up was bc of ryan and pain pills. But I think we can all agree her stories were easy to change and I began to question the truth with many things she said..

I doubt they live in Chicago, that's just where their isp is located. At any rate, verbal nor physical abuse isn't a defense to murder.

I'm from northern Kentucky, about ten minutes away from where this happened, no physical abuse ever occurred

Most of Ryan's college friends, who likely know him as well as anyone, live in Chicago.

She was the one who stalked him and would go to his house constantly.. Why would she keep visiting him and begging him to get back with her if he abused her?

I'm in disbelief. She always seemed like a sweet person. A little annoying at times and slightly cray-cray, but I never thought she was crazy enough to shoot someone MULTIPLE times. It's just so sad and scary at the same time since it kinda hits close to home for me.

Shayna always knew that she needed to stay away from Ryan. We all told her that but she refused. He had SERIOUS depression and honestly he could of taken her to the shooting range and set her up to kill him. He threatened suicide multiple times to everyone so she might of just gotten so angry she gave him what he wanted.Still though there is no excuse to go to these extremes, and I am praying for her family and his.

I knew Shayna through high school, and I for one am not shocked at all. Shayna was crazy. She was extremely religious and told people they were going to go to Hell, yet she would talk about how badly she wanted to give blowjobs to all the boys in our class. She was obsessed with being perfect and would cry if it was humid or something and her hair got a tad frizzy. She was not all there, and everyone knew it. Her friends were all temporary and the friends she had leading up to this incident are just as psycho as she is.

Yeah, not surprised at all.

Ryan Poston was one of my best friends from law school. He was my best friend in law school. Ryan was extremely likeable, he enjoyed life and was always supportive of me and never judged me even though I struggled all the time. His home was always open to me and we spend countless hours studying for the bar exam and our classes. He was unique, anyone who knew him can attest to that, but in the best way possible. A true renaissance man in my opinion. From all the accounts I have heard, this Shayna was nuts. One of me and Ryan's mutual friends spoke with Ryan right before his death. He met this "Shayna" and knew she was psycho. Moreover, this Shayna had been stalking Ryan for awhile prior to the shooting. I am devastated.

Ryan had appraoched me about a month and a half ago to sell some of his guns. We were gun buddies and friends who debated politics and everything else. Hadn't talked to him in quite a bit though so I was surprised and asked why he wanted to sell his AR amongst some others. He said it was so he could keep being able to take some girl out. The fact that he was sacrificing some of his prized possessions for this piece of garbage makes me sick. Snodgrass or whoever else is in the Campbell County prosecutors office best make sure this psycho gets a needle or a life sentence, or many people will do their best to make sure there are some personel changes in that office. NO PLEA DEALS, nothing.
