<quoted text>Why would she say she waited if she had Real motive to hide? Don't get me wrong, this whole affair seems too bizarre to even have occurred. This girl is smart enough to graduate from UK with honors, especially honors with Biology, one of U.K.s most difficult programs. Yet, she was dumb enough to continue to date a man in a tumultuous relationship. It sounds like she is incredibly smart in one way: yet, substantially inadequate socially. I know this girl attended gifted classes in middle school, one has to test within the upper twp percent to be in these programs. Even in a state of frenzy, I can't see her telling the police she waited fifteen minutes to call them if she even semi had preplanned to murder him.
Please note that I am not making excuses for killing this man. It seems like she could have just run for the door and left in the heat of argument before pulling a trigger.
Shayna did graduate as you said. However, her 'common sense' and EMOTIONAL radar do not work as most do ~ that's what is unsettling; she was 'not insane' enough to call her mother first?!!!... And then destroy evidence?! And then go outside to cry on the balcony and try to mess her hair up to look like there was an argument??! Wow. Shayna, I guess you will have all the attention and cameras you want. Unbelievable, Ryan's life is over, and you're waiting for Nancy Grace and Lifetime.:((

I'm sad for his family and friends.

Very interested to see what information is made public tomorrow.

And completely agree with your comment regarding Nancy Grace.

Before anyone else responds please refrain from holding an opinion about this girl or guy without refreshing yourself on what has been published by the media already. Several personal details of pills, drugs, being crazy, why would he date her, why would she date him...blah blah blah.... These are all personal opinions. No one knows anymore facts than what is in the news (which is widely available so go educate yourself) so do not express why you think she murdered him, when in fact you do not know that.
There is no evidence that she murdered him. We only know she shot him. We do not even know if there was a struggle and she took the gun from him and shot him. We do not know if he had a weapon on him, near him, etc. We do not know what substances will be in his body (drugs, alcohol, pills, etc). So no one can say she is crazy so she definitely killed him (because that is your opinion).
It is obvious that if someone is coming at you with physical force with or without a weapon (whether you know them or are a stranger), then you will not let them have at you...you will use what is on you, around, you, or try to DEFEND yourself.
Now I would say if the police reveal pictures of the scene and no other weapons or anything are found and she got the gun from a locked place...then I would say thats a murder obviously...but right now we do not know so keep your hatred towards shayna and love for ryan to yourself. It is not fair to either person to say didnt deserve it or that she deserves to serve life in jail. You werent there so you do not know anything more than what you want to believe.
Use common sense (and not your opinion)...the fact she shot him in the face does not mean his head exploded. In fact we dont know where or how blunt the trauma to the face was. Police vaguely released details. Since she is shorter than Ryan it is clear if she is holding the gun waist level that the bullet would be shot at an angle towards his face. IF he had a weapon or was attacking her in any way...why wouldnt she keep shooting??? Come on use common sense. Have you never had a fight with someone? Ive been hit by an ex bf before and even though I loved him, I still wanted to keep hitting him since he is stronger.
I like this forum but its really tiring to read all of the negative opinions when (even if she had personality issues) she still doesnt deserve the criticism and blame for a situation that is not truly known. The fact she waited 15mins (supposedly said by media) to call 911, means nothing more or less since it is not confirmed its true. Maybe she called her friends, family, someone else before calling police. If you are in a car accident and not seriously hurt, do you call 911 right away minute after impact or do you call your husband/wife/mom/dad..etc?

Anyone who is mad about people posting their thoughts, opinions, speculations, and educated guesses needs to stick to reading official news articles. This is what forums are for.

There is a difference in an opinion about this event and purposely stating bias opinions. If you knew Shayna or Ryan then you should feel like I do in that this is not morally right to spread blame where blame may not YET be due.

I agree with UKGRAD because if someone liked or knew Ryan more than Shayna then they will be on his side no matter what since he is the one who is no longer with us. If the roles were reversed and Ryan shot Shayna I wonder if these people who say she was crazy or whatever would say she deserved it and now he is free from her....Yeh I am sure most of you would after reading majority of these responses. THAT shows you what is wrong with our society now. What about innocent until proven guilty?

SHE, the OPERATIVE word--the (presumed) LYING, MANIPULATIVE, OBSESSIVE and SCORNED former lover of an up and coming attorney. HER story. HER statement.

She is the only witness. A woman who has, in this forum and in social circles, been painted a compulsive liar.

This commentary almost leaves me speechless. I don't mean to sound harsh, but you have only stated opinion and have lacked all common sense/logic in your arbitrary reasoning. Making generalizations and comparing what happened in that apartment to a "car accident where you are not seriously injured" or a "argument that made you want to keep hitting your boyfriend" is irrelevant and not even close to comparable. After you shoot someone several times, it isn't gossip hour..you don't call your friends and family and fill them in on what happened..if you have any human compassion you do anything in your power to help that person. And what does it matter if she picked up the gun off of a table or got it from a locked safe...if she knew where he kept guns in the house (if he did) and that they were accessible to her, she wouldn't even have to do much to retrieve them. So that is in no way conclusive of murder or anything else for that matter.

I am pretty sure you are shorting yourself. I read that post and found majority of it undertandable. You turn around and are only stating your opinion about why their opinion is wrong hahaha so hilarious. I am pretty sure if I was being attacked (not saying she was just putting it out there) that I would not have any remorse in that moment. I would later on as we all would but at that point you can only forgive and forget and not change the past.
If she was being attacked why would she not defend herself. After shooting him whats done is done. At that point you cannot unshoot him. You are talking about compassion for after shooting him...well maybe she was freaking out and hysterical, crying on the balcony, and needed reassurance that what she did has been done. I've witnessed someone die in a car wreck right in front of me and I became emotional disoriented. Maybe she was too and needed comforting from her family.

You do not know anything more than the poster you are disagreeing with. I knew Shayna through friends and knew that Ryan and her went to the gun range often. Ryan had at least 5 guns in his apartment. He had 3 handguns, an AR, and smaller rifle. So your last point is irrelevant because if they had an argument and then she left and came back in the living room to shoot him thats murder. if the gun was out and in reach then she picked it up and said dont hit me, dont come any closer or ill shoot and he did, and she shot, then is that murder? no.

Respect other's opinions when you are disagreeing with them.

The only difference here is that someone was dying....she waited until he was absolutely not breathing (by even shooting him a few more times to make sure of it). You would think someone may have some urgency to seek medical attention, if there was a glimmer of false hope that he could be saved...especially for someone you "loved"

Sorry to break it to some of you on here, but the exact reasons forums like this are set up in the first place are to share thoughts and feelings, questions and theories. A person doesn't need to know the victim or the shooter in this case as it was a terrible tragedy that most people are shocked and outraged over. It is human nature to form a sense of community and go over possible scenarios and share opinions in, what is supposed to be, an attack-free zone and a supportive haven for those who would like to express their emotions. Get over yourselves, some of you...nobody OWNS this forum.

I'm confused about the terminology "sides". This isn't a popularity contest, we're adults now and dealing in law not pledging sororities and facebook friend counts. If you have information to share that exonerates the person charged then by all means, feel free to share it.
People are basing their opinions on what has been reported and what people who knew them are revealing, and they can certainly share those opinions also. No one will be acquitted or convicted based on Topix - it's a discussion forum and has remained (for the most part) reasonable and logical.
