I did some research, I found a local news channel website in pittsburg, they do give you discounts for free. The catch is: their disclaimer says you waive your privacy rights, they will share your information with other companies to send you advertising. Which is not necesarily a bad thing since we all get unrequested mail all the time. The article does not specify what kind of information they share. I would contact my pharmacy and ask if they can share my SS# and DOB with Alliance if I use their card.

Just talked to a Medicare specialist this weekend. She said the card is ok to use and will probably save more than when on the D Plan. You still need the D plan, because if you do not, you will be fined and it will go up every year costing more. So, I got the D plan but am going to use the RX Card. The RX people only receive a commission from the Pharmaceutical companies. No need to worry. Answered my questions.

People can get your ss# and DOB off the internet. nothing is private anymore. you just have to hope no one gets it and causes problems, like identity theft.

When treated by healthcare PROFESSIONALS, your private healthcare information is protected by State and Federal legislation (often referred to as HIPAA). These laws protect the patient from illegal disclosure and the ability to seek financial restitution for abuse. It appears this company is attempting to circumvent the laws and dilute your legal protection. No proof, appearance only. They may be philanthropic.

If you think..."So What?"...Here's a scenario. Many diseases are genetic. Health and life insurance companies determine coverage using actuarial tables and massive statistical analysis. If you provide information regarding your genetic information outside the HIPAA security it's open season on you, your descendants, your extended family members.

The issue causing insurance companies angst, is the disseminated information across hundreds of thousands of healthcare provides. They can't collate it. This card seems to be pure data mining. Remember health is multi generational, companies strategically position themselves accordingly. As a healthcare professional, I was once approached by an insurance company to assist with a very difficult project for a "nominal fee". If I agreed, I would have unknowingly provided their company with all cancer patients within a 30 mile radius, which would assist in determining insurance rates for Mommy, Daddy, son, daughter, granddaugher, grandson...get the picture. Multi generational revenue stream. Don't be a lemming.

I just left their website and out seems legitimate. I have a friend who pays $757 a month for medications. I plugged in the names of them script and it told me the cheapest possible savings which was almost half the cost of his medication. He is gonna try it. ill let you know how it goes. The company seems to be affiliated with a large pharmacutical company that throws then cut back checks when the card is ised.. I know a man who owes several pharmacutical companies and he says they are legitimate! Its worth a shot and BTW pharmacy cant release your credit cards # s or anything like that's

I agree with you. We have more of our information on facebook and twitter then anything Healthcare Alliance has. Worry about them instead of a free rx card. My inhaler is $1000 a month without it. So anything I can get to help me is fine for me.

I received my RX relief card and sure enough it is the real deal! I got 50% off on my Viagra!

I mean that's like getting two erections for the price of one!(If only the lady on the corner would honor it).

Now I'm waiting for my BJ relief card...

I am only concerned because I would like to know if this is funded by any government money. We give away too much as it is, so why send it to people who may not need it, and don't even ask for it? I will not use this card until I know that my taxes aren't paying for it.

I called RX Relief myself after receiving these unsolicited cards. Initially I thought someone had given out my personal information.

They say the cards are not attached to a person only your address. They are mailing these out to EVERYONE. They collect your data from several sources (especially the internet) if you are goggling for info about insurance, etc. They say you can use the card or give it to someone, etc and receive a discount. They say they are able to get such low discounts on drugs because of their purchasing power. They also admitted that they do receive a small fee from the pharmaceutical company when someone uses the card. So, to me its a money maker for them, they take the chance of sending the card to everyone with hopes someone will use it. They have only been around for 1 1/2 years. I'm not surprised about the address, many companies are hiring call center reps to work from home which reduces the overhead expenses associated with office space. It's just the waive of the future. PO Boxes and UPS stores are used for mailing and shipping purposes only.

Funny, the offer to send you other cards if you or anyone you know can benefit from them. Why, they benefit each time it's used and the more you put out there, the greater the chance.

I'm still skeptical about my information being made available.

If you are worried about the legitimacy of the Rx Relief card then try the free Prescription Discount Card from United Way. It is basically the same thing and it is provided through a non-profit program
