I went to total med. Its a lot cheaper to go to a Dr. and get a script. Dr. James W. Anderson gave me mine.

Do you have to have insurance to be able to be seen and get the medicine?

yes i agree with most on it lasting only 3-4 mnths it really is about changing your eating habits. but it does work after that your mind cant be tricked anymore.but i didnt go to a weight loss doc i went to my primary care provider and she prescribed to me as long as your blood pressure is under controle and you really are over weight you shldnt have a problem.

the mackey center in lexington is great. I have lost 43 pounds in just over two months. the doctor is great, but wont just give you the pills w/o work. if you eat hot dogs and a bag of chips then wash down the pill with a coke you will still be fat. the pill helps, but you got to burn more than you stuff in your face.

total med is a good place. They have gone under some new management recently and you cannot get Phentermine if your BMI is under 25. I have lost weight here and want to stay on the med. It gives me energy. does anyone know where I can get phentermine with a BMI under 25? I don.t want to gain my weight back!

I did have good results. Lost approx 30 lbs in four months would've dropped more if I had exercised. Had to quit cuz it was so expensive and the doc changed her schedule so often and didn't stay past 4:00 it made it very hard to schedule a biweekly appointment. Now I'm 218 lbs when I was down to like 195-so I dunno if it was running out of meds or the depression from other things that made me gain it back. Losing process started in October ended in February.

What does your BMI have to be? I need a family dr. I just moved to Lexington, my BMI is 31 would like to find a family Dr that prescribes them.

My husband was very depressed about his weight and went to the Andover branch of the Lexington Clinic. These clinics are mostly like UTC’s, but this branch in particular does have a family practice as well. Good luck!

I know it may be a drive for some but I go to Hazard to a weight loss clinic. I take Adipex. I started Sept 28 2011 at 243 pounds and I am down to 193. The office visit is only $80 and that includes your medicine. For those of you that are downing taking this med to HELP us lose weight, let me inform you that those of us that are starting out extremely overweight & wanting to lose weight need the help so we are not hungry all the time. For me, this appetite suppressant not only kept me from getting hungry but it gave me energy that I didn't have. Since I have been on Adipex I have lost 50 pounds due to exercising and changing the way I eat. Sure you could just do this without the medicine but it is a lot harder. In the morning I usually eat some kind of cereal and then I take my pill. I drink water all day long. I use to hate water but the day I got on this med I stopped drinking pop of any kind. When you are not hungry all the time, it is so much easier to make better food choices. I don't know about anybody else but before this when I was hungry I would grab for anything quick and easy. Now I plan my meals out and I make sure I eat things that are good for me. I was a fast food junkie, Food was my drug. Not anymore. I even go some days and not take the medicine at all to see how I do and I do well. I go walking and now that I have lost 50 pounds I have started incorporating other exercises that I couldn't do 243 pounds. I feel great but I still have a long way to go. Good luck to all who are trying to lose.
