From the book: THE BLUEGRASS CONSPIRACY:....by Sally Denton

"Reading a classified report he had received from the ATF, Ralph [Ross] used a yellow marker to highlight a synopsis of the Company's illegal activities:

....... the smuggling and domestic trafficking of narcotics and dangerous drugs; the infiltration and hidden control of gambling casinos domestically and internationally; the trafficking and smuggling of firearms and military hardware; the acquisition and diversion of large amounts of currency; contract assassinations; arson for profit; business scams; and the corruption of public officials in the U.S. and abroad....Bryant's associates include organized crime leaders and attorneys; members of international drug organizations; paramilitary groups; those associated with the distribution and control of pornography; management level personnel of large casino operations; former and current law enforcement officers; and prominent political figures... traditional La Cosa Nostra crime families are involved with the Company for purposes of mutual benefit."

From: THE BLUEGRASS CONSPIRACY, by Sally Denton:

"......Former Governor Louis Nunn, John Y.'s Republican opponent, hired a private detective in Florida to conduct "opposition research" for the campaign. The investigator, a retired FBI agent, reported his findings to Nunn, who then leaked them to the press.
Nunn claimed to find "a lot of evidence of Brown's association with illegal bookmakers, drug dealers, and La Cosa Nostra (LCN) figures in Las Vegas and Miami," but Nunn had trouble conveying the significance of John Y.'s involvement with notorious criminals.
from -"The Bluegrass Conspiracy," by Sally Denton, p. 167

At the height of the campaign, Nunn disseminated a report entitled, "Operation Uncover," which questioned the credibility of a "multi-millionaire playboy who decided on his wedding night to run for Governor, whose high-rolling lifestyle places him far above the concerns of mere working people. We are not talking about social gambling and not pari-mutual gambling, which pays taxes. What we are talking about is casino and bookie gambling which many times cheats Uncle Sam and the state out of taxes... John Young Brown, Jr. is representative of a very, very few people. He lives in another world. A world of jet airplanes, helicopters, yachts, roman palaces like Caesars, palatial privately-owned 'fun clubs' with rooms 'exotically decorated in harem motifs with waterbeds, whirlpools and sunken baths.'"

...John Y. dismissed the allegations as the whining of a desperate man. Aware of Kentuckians' traditional acceptance of wagering John Y. admitted that as a young man he had done his fair share of low-stakes social betting-horse races and such––and that as a millionaire he had met a lot of exciting people whose backgrounds he didn't question."

James Purdy "Jimmy" Lambert -
Released from prison, he becomes a partner of Philip Block in the Kentucky chain of Castle pawn and jewelry shops. Seemingly intent on a low profile, he largely disappears from the political and social pages of Lexington and other local newspapers.
In 1998, a published biography of Bill and Hillary Clinton, "Partners in Power," reveals that Lambert had also been the conduit for some $300,000 in cash given to then-Governor John Y. Brown by Clinton and Brown intimate Dan Lasater, a fast-food and bond brokerage millionaire suspected of ties to organized crime and who would later be convicted himself on drug charges. According to the FBI records, Brown through Lambert had asked for a million dollars at the time, but Lasater had decided to give "only" $300,000, conveyed in a brown paper bag aboard Lasater's Lear Jet as he flew the Clintons to the 1983 Derby, where the two governors and their wives would socialize as usual. "I just took care of John Y's money problems," an associate would remember Lasater telling him after that trip to Kentucky with the future President and First Lady.

I remember Clinton being in Jessamine. Wasn't George W. Bush's wife in Richmond not long ago? I had heard she was appearing to support literacy. Just wondered if anyone knew if she actually came.

That one's easy. Besides having horses, the Queen of England is very good friends with William Farish of Lexington, with whom she stayed during her visit. He, at one time, was ambassador to Britain appointed by George Bush. She also visited Williamsburg, Virginia. I believe the year was 2007.

J. Dan Chandler
After losing his job at Caesars, he is rumored to leave Nevada to work in casinos in the Caribbean and elsewhere. By the 1990s he is back in Las Vegas, where he becomes a "host" at the Las Vegas Hilton. In 1993 his son Joseph Daniel "Chan" Chandler, Jr. dies in his father's Las Vegas home in what the coroner will rule as a suicide from a .357 magnum handgun. The younger Chandler is also found to have a 0.46 blood alcohol level and a toxic volume of crack cocaine in his system. Years later, beyond the statute of limitations for contesting the forensic finding, the elder Chandler vainly challenges the ruling in an effort to collect the son's insurance as well as to "clear his name," claiming Chan died "accidentally." The resulting controversy with Nevada authorities prompts a remarkable outpouring of sympathetic publicity for Chandler from the Las Vegas Sun, whose editor extols Chandler in May 1999 as a man who "has proved his mettle from Versailles to Frankfort to Churchill Downs and back."

Dunno, but Belize sure is a hot spot. This is an interesting web comment.

“Dan Lasater buys a ski resort in New Mexico for $20 million and uses Clinton's name (with permission) to promote it. Later, a US Customs investigative report will note that the resort is being used for drug operations and money laundering. Lasater also flies to Belize with his aide Patsy Thomasson to buy a 24,000 acre ranch. Among those present at the negotiations is the US Ambassador. The deal falls through because of the opposition of the Belize government.”

There has been a new updated version of the book published about 2 years ago. I bought it. Read the original, I guess the part that affected me most is what happened to the Flynn girl- lots of speculation in the book, but no answers- that bothers me.

How hard is it to discredit when every statement says rumor has it? Nothing more than gossip

What you just said isn't even true. Why don't you try TRUTH instead of false statements and sarcasm? Who are you covering up for?

Before this post, "rumor" appears five times on this page and four of those are yours.

WHITE WATER-ERA FIGURES DAN R. Lasater and David A. Collins are in business together again.

And they are selling a product that will be a hot commodity if President Clinton has his way trigger locks.

DAC Technologies Group International of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., a marketer of gun locks and other safety devices, began trading publicly, last week (Nasdaq OTC BB: DATT). Little Rock businessman Dan Lasater, whose personal, and professional relationship with then-Gov. Clinton was explored by the special congressional committee on Whitewater, owns almost a quarter of the company's stock.

TIME MAGAZINE ARTICLE: Clinton's brother, Gambino connections, race horses, cocaine, heroin, and Kentucky
(no "rumors" here)

In Bill Clinton's final days in office last January, a White House lawyer included Rosario Gambino on a list of pardon candidates to be screened by the Justice Department, documents show. No pardon was granted. But at least Gambino — the former owner of Valentino's Supper Club of Garden City, N.J.— seems to have been considered for a pardon. The White House Counsel's office included Gambino's name on a list of pardoned candidates to be sent to the DOJ for criminal background checks. That's more than a handful of other convicts whose lawyers or relatives sought help from Roger Clinton got out of their deals.

One of them was J.T. Lundy, former head of the famous Calumet Farms who was sentenced last year to 4 1/2 years in prison for bank fraud. Lundy had given Roger Clinton a job at his Kentucky race horse stud farm after Clinton served a prison term in the 1980s for dealing cocaine. By late 1999, Lundy began asking Clinton for help — even before his trial began. Sources told TIME he suggested Roger try to help delay legal action until the final days of the Clinton presidency, a time in which presidents usually grant pardons.

Lundy offered to reward Roger Clinton with stock in a Venezuelan coal deal, sources told TIME.
