I heard Jimmy Lambert had part ownership in the lounge,I was at his house on Old Dobbin once with a friend.I also heard we have the "Cornbread Mafia" here in Ky.I recently read the book (borrowed from a friend)still a lot of unanswered questions. But very interesting, I worked some for his ex-wife, a nice lady and he seemed like a nice guy.Never met Anita but my ex did -the co. where he worked supplied some of the beer for her parties. He said it was a real mess the next day.

not with that much dope strapped to him.......he should have known that he couldn't safely jump. Too bad so sad he was a dirty cop that thought he could do whatever he wanted as did the rest of the narcs in Lex at that time, John Bryant, Pete Push, Hal McKinney, etc......and Bill Canan. He was the biggest crook of them all. he'd go to UK parties undercover, sell you a joint and then bust you later......and after the police kicked him off the force he was a mercenary......rotten bastard!.......they were all crooked as hell and some retired with full pensions......
i knew pete push he worked for krogers after he retired . we called him dick shove . he got fired from krogers

he put a pistol to my head one time just because he had followed me and my girlfriend from a party once thinking we had large quantities of dope on us......hell I was just a hippie...he went through my ride and tore the old VW bus up, didnt find anything and then told me to move my eyesore from S. broadway. What an asshole!

I read the book years ago & wondered how much was fact & how much was fiction. I didn't know the Flynn girl was Doug Flynn's sister. I've been told there are some remenants(sp?) of the Cornbread Mafia around Lebanon, Ky.

I worked at the library lounge in '77 and '78 and observed some very strange goings on. What happened to former governor Jullian Carroll's nephew Phil? Didn't he serve time for being a co-conspirator?

I drank there from 73 till the bitter end and I hated the disco sound. I just knew one of the bartenders and she slipped me free drinks!

I am going to get the book and read it. I have forgotten it has been so long. I was thinking though they thought that Melanie Flynn was put in Ky river or something? Perhaps I just heard others here in lexington thinking that? Dont recall.
Interesting thing though, everyone that I have ever heard mention that book says the cops were crooked and just about what Dreas says..I've heard it time and again.

thank you really. I do recall...now..there was a campbell vs. neal welch in the KSP under JYB. They ran off Welch-thinking he was working still while here-for the FBI. Campbell was placed over the KSP after that. Campbell was on one side and ross on another. I recall there was an inside war there as well. Was a terrible time inside the criminal justice system in KY. Shortly after, if I recall correctly, the FBI I believe arrested Campbell-drug charge but as I recall the situation was he was visiting some friends-money was on the front seat of his car when he went to get in his car and the FBI arrested him.Hum..could it be a set up? I dont know now. I do know the trail was-if I recall-a hung jury and never retried him.??? Now could it be the FBI were after camp[bell as he was protecting his boss, JYB that had fired Welch and given him the job? Or could it be campbell was guilty of something? If I recall it was the KSP that turned itself on Ross was that because it was a crime they couldnt cover/or a crime? or was it because he was getting information on JYB?

Ok I've read the book, seen the dunne show Freefall and the one on discovery channel called dangerous company. They seem pretty good. But I'm looking for the newspaper articles the had running when the events were actually goin on. I've read most of the post on here and I haven't seen anyone asking bout John Vance or Bradley Bryant? They were two of the top players in "The Company." You can't find nothing bout them on the Internet. We all know what happened to Drew Thornton, Mike Kelley, his wife and Canan but I'm pretty sure their were more people involved. It's hard to find information about this cause Kentucky has away of trying to protect their own. Since most of the people involved were upper or middle class caucasians they trying to hide it. On the dunne show even they reporter valerie honeycutt I think that's her name she said the people of KY was outraged and wanted them to stop printing up the papers. This is a very interesting story. Would like to know what really happened?
