Do you really think the banks won't raise their fees to existing customers to make up for these losses? You asked for a loan on a house you couldnt afford and it's the banks fault REALLY?

In my case I could afford the mortgage but a divorce lead to me loosing it ! But I still feel that the banks convinced thousands of others that they could have the American dream when they had no real chance of being able to afford it long term. And no I think the banks won't raise there rates in fear that they will start another financial crisis.

Unless you read up on the facts...Keep your asshole shut! You my dear will be caught in the karma you reap! Even people of the military suffered and its not just homes where people did not make their payments! Do I agree that banks should only pay this back?! No but by God...Those responsible should be facing jail time! You can bet your ass my payments were made, and more than likely embezzled by whoever received them (10,000) <----But that's alright, they too could keep your payments and then what would you say?! Idiot!

There are two different settlements? I hadn't heard that. Do you mind explaining? I was told I qualified for the Independent Foreclosure review, but I thought they were one and the same.

The crap part of the whole thing right after we bought the house.A bank changed us to wells Fargo and raised my mortgage. And this company that was suppose to be helping us told us to get money orders but don't send them out yet.And when we did send them the money we got a letter saying it was to late and they sent our money orders back. And we Evan played our 1500 dollars city taxes if we would of known we were going to get screwed we would have stuck them with the taxes.

I suffered the same way you guys did. I didn't make my payments and the bank had the nerve to foreclose on me. This is bullshit, we don't deserve this in the United States. Just because I bought a house I couldnt afford, and because I lied on my application I end up losing my house. How can I get my money?

Yes, I never applied for Indenpendent Foreclosure so I was shocked to receive a check. I'm still not sure how they got my information. However, I DID reply to the letter from National Mortgage because it came straight from my state attorney generals office. Those had to be returned by December 2012, if I remember correctly.

When I got the check from Independent (actually it was from RUST), I called National Mortgage and asked if it was from them. She said that it was not. She said that the National Mortgage checks are coming in June.

No. I received a letter from Mike DeWines's (state attorney general) office back in September or October. All I had to do was check one of three boxes and it automatically put my name in the settlement. It had to be returned to his office by December 12th?? I had NO IDEA about Independent Foreclosure. I went to my mailbox, and a check was in there for 600 dollars. It was from a place called RUST Consultants. I assumed it was the National Mortgage settlement and I called them to verify. She told me that it was not. She said that I will have another settlement coming to me "Mid Year". Possibly June.

Maybe you should consider giving that back the bank that you screwed and probably lost 10's of thousands on the crappy house you bought and didnt pay for.

Nah. I think I'll just keep it since they sold me a house that had 35,000 dollars worth of septic and foundation work that needed to be fixed EVEN THOUGH their "appraisers" said that it was all in good working order. And PS. My house has been sold for a lousy 45,000 dollars BECAUSE OF THE PROBLEMS THAT IT HAS.

And PS. Why don't you SUCK IT.

OK retard the bank didn't sell you the house, and appraisers just value the property they dont work for the bank and they don't inspect the house for issues. I can see why you lost your house, you have to be the dumbest poster on topix. I can see you were too stupid to pay for an inspector to look over your purchase. You are the poster child for people who shouldn't be able to finance a house.

and the checks are bouncing! Google it. Still not as awesome as when the IRS refund checks bounced several years ago.

WASHINGTON, April 17 (UPI)-- The U.S. Federal Reserve is assuring borrowers sent relief checks as part of a multibillion-dollar settlement over foreclosure abuses funds are now available.

Some of early relief checks sent under the Independent Foreclosure Review bounced because of insufficient funds and the Fed's consumer hotline advised the checks could not be cashed Tuesday.

The Fed said in a statement Wednesday the paying agent, Rust Consulting Inc., and the paying bank, Huntington National Bank, had rectified the problem.

"We apologize to anyone who experienced problems trying to cash their checks," Rust Consulting senior executive James Parks said in a statement.

The Fed and the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency last week began sending payments to 4.2 million borrowers as part of a $9.3 billion settlement with the nation's biggest banks related to troubled mortgage loans.

The first round of checks was mailed last week and more than 50,000 borrowers have already cashed or deposited the checks, regulators said.

This is a great idea, reward the idiots who bought houses they couldnt afford and who most likely falsified their applications. Makes me sick.
Please do not judge everyone when you have no clue who you are talking to. My husband spent two and a half years at the Mayo clinic with major medical problems. During this unforeseeable illness which required multiple surgeries, his income drastically changed due to the lack of work. We had medical insurance but they refused to pay for anything at the Mayo clinic yet even though we had letters from chief surgeons in Omaha stating he needed to go to either UCLA or the Mayo and that no one in Omaha could do what needed to be done. So while we were fighting with our insurance and traveling every other week to the Mayo clinic we also had to fight with our mortgage company. We had fallen 3 months behind in our house payment so they worked out a deal to have the payments made up over a year’s time. Our house payment then doubled and without telling us they kicked out our escrow and no longer made our insurance payments. This caused us to be out much more than anticipated. We worked with this for 10 out of the 12 months to find out that they had no intentions of dropping the payment back down to where it was in the first place AFTER we did everything they wanted us to. Then we also found out that about 2 months after working out the deal we SIGNED and agreed to, that they took us to court anyway filing a judgment for the WHOLE AMOUNT OF OUR HOUSE!!!! The house was no longer ours even though we worked out a deal with them. So in the end we lost our home that we had just spend a fortune on remodeling the whole thing a year before my husband became ill and because of the judgment they filed we had to file bankruptcy knowing we could never pay it. We were never even notified we were being taken to court and the judge ruled in their favor because we didn't show!!! How is this fair I ask you? I praise God because my husband is alive and well years later and that He has provided a home for us which we plan on purchasing this fall after renting for the past year and a half. My 3 sons have been through so much from their father being so ill to having to move twice. The first from the only home they have ever known to another and finally where we reside now. Which by the way is only 2 blocks from our home that was taken. We loved the area so much and are so glad to be back. Now that all is done and our credit was trashed we are starting to recover. The sad thing is now I doubt we get more than $300.00. Sounds like that is what is happening to so many. I pray we get what we are supposed to but we will cash whatever it is and never look back. I will never do business again with Bank of America!!!!
