try the Swartz Center or the Liberty Place in Richmond. It's income based and may be free if you have no income. The Hope Center for women is also good. you might have a better chance of getting into the Liberty Place quicker. They run the same program as the Hope Center and Healing Place. There's NA and AA 24/7 here, too! been there done that 16 years clean and sober! best of luck to you and Godspeed!

I really REALLY don't want to go to a government run one... especially the schwartz center. They're horrible there, a friend went and they didn't really keep tabs on him like they were supposed to, never punished him for anything he did like breaking curfew or anything. 2 days after he graduated he robbed a convenient store to get money for dope and was shot in the back and died. 2 days... a friend of mine went to the Hope Center for Women 4 years ago, was there for 12 months (she was court ordered) and towards the end of her time there, they started to only take people court ordered or just outta jail/prison. They won't take anyone trying to do it on their own now.

Im just tryin to find one on my own, a nicer one than the state run ones. my parents are gonna pay for it, so im tryin to keep it relatively cheap, but nice none-the-less.

thanks for the input tho and congrats on ur sobriety. tryin to do the same thing myself, i want my life back!

if you want the one's that are private there is recovery works in gtown but it's expensive. I dont think you will find a cheaper one. The Liberty Place in Richmond is a very good center. I have sent plenty of women there and they are all doing well. the hope center for women has changed it's tune a bit lately. But here's the bottom line if you want a easier softer way you ain't ready for sobriety! Getting clean sucks if you let it. It depends on the want to for it to work. there are private centers all over the state but all you pay for there is the comfort of home cause the therapy is still the same. Get clean, quit using, do what you have to to quit. dont find fault with rehab but do the work to get clean and want to change your life. If you're doing the same thing and expecting different results you're not ready for abstinence. No offense intended just the truth, I del with this disease every day.

its not that im tryin to make it "easy" i know its not easy, but im also not gonna go to a rehab that is also a halfway house and also not gonna go to one that the shortest amount of time is 9 months...

im willing to go to one out of state also, which ive found a couple that are cheaper than recovery works which was 10000 for the first month...

thank you for ur input tho, and no offense taken. it is what it is, right?

It's definitely what it is! hqve ya checked out Communicare in Etown. It's a short and then long term if ya want to go further and the Layne House is a 28 day unit that also has the option of aftercare. There are a bunch in Tenn., Fla., and W.Va. Recovery is were you get it, not the place. I've seen people get it in all sorts of places. If ya can I'd go for a unit that caters to women for the obvious reasons. Good luck!

The Hope Center will take people that want to do it on your own. I went there and stayed 21 months. I was not court ordered and went on my own. They helped me get a job, a car, and apartment and now Ive got everything back into my life. Thats the best place to go. Call and speak with Miss Sandy

If you got and stayed clean after leaving that place, doesn't that imply it actually helped you?

I went to the hope center for women. Don't stand out or make anyone mad. They let the inmates run the asylum! If someone doesn't like you or wants to cause you some grief they bring you up for peer review and can phase you back in the program if they get enough people on their side. Lol!
It may have changed as I was in the first class in the facility. But I got mad at a lazy girl sitting on the floor in front of a toilet spraying windex on everything in the bathroom and wiping it all with the same dirty cloth. She started crying when I got mad because I had to explain to her that we had girls with Hep C and everything else under the sun detoxing here! Diarrhea, puke, blood! These are menstruating/detoxing chicks! WTF! Windex? So they vote to phase me back to 1 level above detox dorms. I had made it to the 2 person rooms. I left! They are OK if you have NO other options OR you don't have a sense of self preservation.

The Hope Center for women is a great place to get clean. If you can complete their program you have a greater chance at sobriety than most. They teach the same program of Recovery Dynamics as the Men's Hope Center, Healing Place , and all the Recovery Kentucky facilities. They are income based and operate on a community style treatment model. This holds people accountable for their actions!

I'm sorry Dreas but when were you in the Hope Center?
No, the night staff going through all the donations first for their own family were not held accountable. The girls getting up in the middle of the night to steal meds from each other weren't held accountable. And letting a bunch of angry detoxing woman choose each others punishment is not about accountability. It is about cliques and vindictiveness. I worked a good program and got accused of doing things I didn't do by a group who had run the streets together.
I'm all for being held accountable but allowing people in that shape to choose each others punishment is stupid.
But I'm sure you can quote me some stats on how effective that recovery model is, right? How many graduate vs. how many stay clean and sober is 2 different things.

Bullmonkey, do you think it would have been a good place except for the group that accused you of things? How many had to vote to punish you?
