the OP asked for a church that is "Biblically sound" and "serious about the business" of Christ. Some of the churches mentioned here are not qualified.

a church is not a place, nor a building, but rather a group of called out ones, or saved-by-Christ belivers....

If you want to hear an uncomprimising word, I'd recommend Word of Life Christian Center. Not watered down.

Southland Christian Church---be as involved, or as anonymous (but hopefully only while you're initially checking the place out), as you want to be. Flexible place to merely worship occasionally or to get as involved as you want. Many small groups and "specific cause" groups that you can join. "Standards" to meet are generally only those you would expect from a welcoming open-minded Christian Church in which most members try not to get caught up in "the minor details/debates/issues" that can make church-going an unpleasant experience for so many people; but rather focus on the primary goals of community worship, mutual support, and helping others if you are able to do so.

...as for being Biblically sound, the general motto of the Christian, Church of Christ, and other similar "Campbell" denominations is "Where the Bible speaks, we speak; where the Bible is silent, we are silent". Unfortunately, more than a few congregations get caught up in disagreements over whether or not instruments can be played, which types of instruments can be played, minor idiosyncrasies over how communion is served, and other issues that serve little purpose other than to detract from many of the more admirable and important goals of the church

...but Southland Christian Church rarely, if ever, gets caught up in such "hair-splitting" non-sense

I would visit the North Lexington Church of Christ on Hume Road. We have been very happy with this church. 300+ members with a lot of resources. This is not an "entertainment" church. Bible study and worship services are excellent and evangelism program is surprisingly far reaching. Lots of opportunities for someone looking to make a difference.
