I've noticed on the jail site that a lot of people have the same 4 charges, theft of a controlled substance along with a misdomenor theft and a felony theft. I've also noticed that the controlled substance charge is always at a store like Walmart or Kroger or somewhere like that.now how in the world do so many people steal pills from there? Someone enlighten me plz

Nah, that would be Obtaining a Controlled Substance By Fraud or Forgery... a Class III Felony in Kentucky punishable by 1 to 5 years in the state penitentiary-- that's right folks, being sick will get you prison time! Should we incarcerate cancerous patients? They too are a drain on resources? I think we need controls on the Prison Industrial Complex that pervades Kentucky jurisprudence.

Maybe stop handing the stuff out like candy for one thing.

All these "mental" illnesses are mostly BS and the people that get caught up in this are weak minded individuals who will not take responsibility for their lot in life. If doctors would start telling at least 90% of the patients out there to suck it up and deal with it, then we might be able to deal with the people that do indeed have actual problems.

Having worked in the industry, it is crooked as hell. If people only knew what the truth was behind the big pharma companies.

So that doesn't answer my question.I still don't understand how what ppl are doing to get that charge along with the other 3 that come with it.r ppl picking up other ppls pills illegally and if so how is it that so many ppl know who has which pills at which stores? I've also noticed that 99% of ppl arrested for this are white females

Prob means they stole someones script. Usually there parents or gradparents medicine. Ol grand dad get a script for precocet and junior swipes them to get high or sell them. Wal mart does not I.D. customers for prescriptions unless the customer requests it. So picking up someone elses medicine is easy.

And mental issues are not BS. More and more people are suffering from depression these days. There are more treatments and medicines for mental disorders than there were 20 years ago. Anti depressants and counseling saved my life from depression but I still have to take me meds daily. People are so quick to judge when they know nothing on the subject they speak about.

Same gos for long time chronic pain sufferers. Sure there are people who abuse the pain clinics but the people who actually benifit from meds are suffering by shutting down the pain clinics. The state government would rather you be in pain 24/7 rather than you getting treatment from a dr.

Did not say they were BS, I said 90% were BS. And I still stand behind that. I will guarantee you that if you picked up the DSM-IV manual and started reading through it, you could diagnose yourself with several "illnesses" that would warrant medical prescriptions, if a doctor were to diagnose you or others. Point being, the diaganostics is designed so that everyone has a mental illness, perceived or not. Get the book and you will see what I mean.

Right,right... some phuqtwit on Topix is more knowledgeable than the combined knowledge of the American Medical Association. BTW, "FixIt", what are your credentials? West Jessamine Co. High School???

I do not have to justify myself to you or anyone else. This is not a medical forum, this is an opinion forum which we all have. If you had been reading, the only "credentials" I will give is the one I already gave, I have worked in the industry. As I said, pick up the DSM manual and see for yourself, it is all there in black and white. So until you have actually researched the DSM you cannot really form an opinion as to what is in that book.

BTW...Are you saying that just because the AMA makes some sort of statement or claim that I just take their word for it. Just because they have the fancy name of American Medical Association? What a sheep.

I suppose after all these years of our government saying they have our best interest in mind that you believe that too.

What retard! I know your type, and I have argued against anti-science retards for years. You phuqwit, I don't accept the conclusions of the AMA "because they have a fancy name", it is because they are a peer reviewed scientific body! You sir, betray your ignorance with your assumption that the AMA is, somehow, a government agency. You have no credentials, that is why they're not presented.

As your name implies, junkie. I am glad that you are now clean, but I think whatever you were a junkie on, has done some permanent damage.

You should really do some research.

You are half right, but you can be charged with theft of a controlled substance by obtaining pills with a forged prescription. My cousin was charged with it for doing this very thing.

Having worked in pain clinics I can honestly say there are docs that know their patients are hooked and keep issuing meds because it is a guaranteed return patient unlike the average they see once or twice a year. Most know the drugs aren't truly needed. The good docs won't prescribe anymore out of fear leaving just the cruddy marginal ones. Concerning but true.

Here's how I understood it at my step sons court appearance ..if ur caught with any controlled substance which is something prescribed and u don't have a script for it u get charged with theft of a controlled substance. That's why u see so many boosters an thieves with that charge. It used to be possession now I guess they figure if ur out stealing stuff u stole ur dope too.
