It's too bad that all of the Dr's affiliated with St. Joe's Bariatric Center don't care for their patients. Dr. Greenlee treats them as if they are just another number and paycheck in his pocket. See the posts earlier in another thread talking about him and bariatric surgery.

Dr. Steiner is pretty dang awesome. had my surgery almost 2 yrs ago and have lost 150 and kept it off. I'll give you that they run their office very efficiently almost like an assembly line... But I've never felt that they didn't care for my well being.

Wonderful! He did mine as well as several other teachers in my county. Once they seen mine and heard how wonderful he was they did it. I would not go anywhere else but to him. I didn't really like the other doctors that were with them. They just didn't seem to be so personal and caring. I never felt bad at any point with him. He was also very easy to get a hold of when I had a panic question that turned out to be nothing. I developed an ulcer 2 years later and he prescribed me medicine for that because he said with my insurance it was cheaper than over the counter. Truly caring person!!

I'll add my success story to the list. I had my gastric bypass surgery done 10 years ago. I did a lot of research and got many recommendations for Dr. Steiner before I went to him. He was great on every level of care. His bariatric nurses were wonderful and I know I received top notch care. I personally knew people who had gone to him before I chose him for my gastric bypass and I have known several people since then that have gone to him, all with satisfactory results. He subsequently did another surgery a couple of years later for me unrelated to bariatrics. Again, a perfect experience. We recommended him to someone else for a non-bariatric related surgery. Again, they were very impressed. To me he was kind, caring and respectful of our beliefs, which presented him with a unique challenge, which he accepted without hesitation. We could not be more satisfied with him as a surgeon. If I ever need another general surgery, he will be the one I choose again and it is not because the location is convenient!

To nurse Nancy. I worked with Dr. Steiner for 6 years. He never physically threatened any nurse to my knowledge. However, he got really angry when his patients were not given the utmost care. He also did surgery on myself and my sister and did a fabulous job! I am now considering bariatric surgery but only if he does it. As far as anger yes, threats no. I will say in my experience with Dr. Steiner, he despises ignorance when it comes to the care of his patients.
