It depends on which area you work in I guess. I worked in Sortation/Rebin and did not really like it. Amazon is one of the worst places I have ever worked. They treat you like children. The safety briefings they do are a joke. They just repeat what they say in every briefing. How many times do you need to hear, "don't run, look both ways, drink water, tie your shoes." The money was OK, but I would not want to work there again.

Pat... they wouldn't have to do those safety lessons over and over again if you wouldn't run, remember to drink your water, look both ways, and tie your shoes.

LOL I'm not sure that he would want his name on here. But he's not been there very long. He works night shift. about 6ft 1 or 2. Probably kind of quiet at work. Light brown hair. Always wears a hat.

He's told me about the security guys there.. I'ld say your opinion if pretty much dead on.
I always thought it was odd that employees can't keep their cell phones on them as well.

Amazon isnt a bad place to work. It just depends on the manager that you work under. SOme are extremely good at what they do. Then you have the few that are smart ass's ands would care less at if your fired or kept. The best thing to do is work your way up if you work there.

Hey, leave the security alone. A few of them may be assholes, but don't judge them all based on a few.
I know quite a few of them and most are very nice individuals. From what I know, most of them are apologetic about what they make the employees do. Have you ever stopped to think and look around for a minute and noticed that at every check point, there's a camera watching them.
They are just trying to do their jobs and not get canned. So leave them alone if you don't personally know them, please.

Also, the whole cell phone thing has to do with theft.

The less cell phones coming in, the less reports of people stealing others' phones. Also, the less cell phones security has to check and verify, the harder it is for someone to take a phone off the shelf and walk out with it saying it's theirs.

The zip-up/button-up outerwear is a more pointless rule. The only reason this rule is in place is because some of the security supervisors must be bored. However, don't get mad because one of the guys asks you to take it off.

Like I said previously, they are being watched on the cameras and they don't want to be fired. If I remember correctly, at any one moment there could be at least 4 of the officer's supervisors watching them on the camera, not to mention how many managers may witness them not doing their job.

So lay off the security.

Its good money if you consider 11 or 12 bucks a hour! I wont lie if you work hard it can be cool, but you arent gonna make a good living off 11 bucks a hr.
