Will you be able to afford the 6 or 7 babies you will end up having after they fill you up with all kinds of drugs?

Never said I was looking for that. Looking into potential natural help, that is the reason for my post.

Dr.James Akin at Bluegrass Fertility Center. It's located at Central Baptist. I had been trying for 3 years.I went to him and he did some tests and gave me meds and I was pregnant within 4 months. He's really nice and professional.

I'm a noted fertility specialist and the first thing I tell all my patients is to make sure he's sticking his wang in the right hole.

As far as the rude post above, they only put two embryo's so triplets are usually the most you will have. A good doctor will NOT put in more than two since the success is so good. I know Akin is good, but the guys in Cincy are much better. Do some research and see who has the best numbers. Central Baptist has some issues with a fertility doctor, a while back and not sure if he is there anymore or not.

I had iui. To"family" it wasn't any issues as far as the dr and wether he was good or not. It was just that he used uk initials on something. It wasn't Dr. Akin either. Not even the same drs office. To "me" maybe set up an appt to talk with them . After you tell them your history they will tell you what their plan would be for you. If you don't like anything about your visit then you could start searching around. I personally felt very comfortable with him and he told me what he was doing every step of the way. Good luck and best wishes

I had insurance so I was only paying 25.00 per visit .I'm not sure what it would cost but I'm sure they would talk to you about it and maybe let you split up the payments. I had the test that they run dye thru your Fallopian tubes to see if they are ok. I had tests done at my Ob's office to check for blood clotting disorders and ect so I sent the results to them. They probably would've done that if I hadn't already had it done.

If you can't afford insurance or medical care you can't afford children. I guess you expect taxpayers to pay for your selfishness.

What's with all the uninformed posts? Fertility insurance isn't usually a part of your medical insurance package. It's not a law in Kentucky that it be included and even if it is included, it usually has caps. Fertility treatments can cost thousands of dollars...all out of pocket (even if you have health insurance through employers, etc.). One IVF with necessary meds can cost upwards of $15K. Patients have been known to save and/or take out loans for treatments.

There are many reasons for needing a fertility doctor, including both male and female issues, such as problems with sperm or blocked fallopian tubes. It's not a matter of "getting it in the right hole".

Extreme multiples are a rarity but they do happen. Two isn't necessarily the most that can be transferred (it depends on the age of the woman and her history) and IF the treatment is successful in IVF, there's a 60-70% chance that it will be a single and only a very small chance that it will be triplets or more.

To "wow" all I know is they had my insurance And when I went in I paid 25.00 each time I was seen.$25.00 is my co- pay so I don't know what you are talking about!!!! You seem to be the one that needs to get informed!!

AbR...I wasn't talking about you. LOL...I was talking about those people who are posting about welfare and things about taxpayers paying for fertility treatments. Sorry you misunderstood and was offended.

I do understand that some companies in KY offer infertility benefits (my husband's is one of them, thank goodness) but most do not.

We tried unsuccessfully for years after our first child. I know lots of people have had success with Akin, but my experience with him was less than stellar. His story seemed to change with each visit as to why we could not conceive. After many failed attempts, we almost gave up. Ended up needing an egg donor and had to go out to Boise to go through the cycle one more time. Dr. Slater in Boise was phenominal, everything was done right and in a professional manner. We got pregnant on the first try with her, and now have a beautiful little girl.

Good luck to you, I know it is both emotionally, physically and financially trying. But the end result is priceless!

Sorry " wow" , I just knew my insurance covered mine . I thought you was replying to me. Truce?? Lol. I agree that it's a trying process and you can get very frustrated . You are right IVF DAD the end result is worth EVERYTHING you have to go thru. I feel like with having my daughter I have been given the answer to the meaning of life. If your having trouble just don't give up "me"...... I can tell you with this process you are going to need to have patience. Being stressed only makes it harder to get pregnant.Best of luck to you
