For 1, you can't sue due to the freedom of speech act and this is a publi access site. People have the right to voice their opinion and say whatever the want about whomever they like without the fear of prosecution from any entinety. Any poster can use any site, IP or public access to gain access to any site provided upon that particular providers provisions, so NO, you cannot sue reguardless of what any poster says due to it being their right to voice their opinion wether true or untrue. Now you can have a thread removed by simply clicking the report post on thleft lower corner in the post. Simply fill out the info needed and submit.

There's a difference between an opinion and a blatant lie!

There is a difference in slander and voicing your opinion but you'd have to hire and damn hood expencive lawyer to win that case on this site.

Wonder how there are so many people arrested for slander? You look at mugshots online and there are lots if people arrested for it. Some how something can be done about it. Whether the charges stick or not, is another story, but you've got that mugshot and arrest record to follow you around.

You can sue actually. Defamation of character is against the law. The more you know.

Truth is, NO you CANNOT SUE as to any comment on this site because of the FACT that it is public and/or personal opinion. WHAT PART OF THAT DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND? There is a big difference here than to personally prove that a particular person either Slandered or Deflamed yours or anyone elses character. What is not being understood is that this is a public address site and you nor anyone else can "beyond a reasonable doubt" prove that it was a particular person that actually said such a slanderous or deflamination act of character. Sure, it may have come from a particular computer, IP, WEB address, or device but there is no wsy to prove that a particular person said whatever it is that is concerning that particular person. Sure, hire you a lawyer, spend your hard earned money, take that chance, highly doubtful you will win. The only way to PROVE that one particular person slandered or deflamed your character is by recording of that person saying it and/or witnesses as to such act. Personal text, email, facebook are also other wsys but a PUBLIC ACCESS SITE cannot, has not, and will not be proven. IMPOSSIBLE. The one's you see being prosecuted for these matters are usually by name calling of police in front of other officers, person to person and proven RUMOR spreading. Attempts at sueing for this are very unlikely without SOLID PROOF and EVIDENCE and 9 out of 10 times is a CIVIL, not CRIMINAL matter. Very rarely is it EVER A CRIMINAL matter unless spoken in open court or to a public official. BEEN THERE DONE THAT, and also a 3 year so far, law student. So, have fun with your arguement. Your best means is to just report said post and have it removed. Be careful too, you accuse the wrong person, your lawsuit could turn into theirs.

No one is arrested for slander or defamation. It's not a criminal matter and has to be taken up in civil court. You can't go to the county attorney and file charges. You go to the county clerk and sue them. You have to prove that not only what they say about you wasn't true but that it damaged you in some way. For example lets say you had a home day care and someone say you were dealing drugs. Because of that parents stopped bringing their kids and you lost income. You can't just sue because it hurt your feelings - even if it wasn't true. If you simply hit the repot button on here and request the post to be taken down, they will take it down.

I didn't actually mean that people were arrested for slander as much as I had noticed numerous people that had slander charges as part of their arrest stated with their mugshots. It only makes sense that a person would assume you could be charged with that.
I promise you, if I had taken some law classes, I would've known differently. So you all can come down off your high horses and stop talking with your condescending tones.
I still say, even if it isn't legal, it's still wrong the way people are allowed to talk about people on here. Good old fashioned gossip wasn't as cruel or hurtful. Mostly because the audience was smaller. Now people that have never heard of you, can read garbage about you then judge you if they meet you. Odds are better that could happen because its not spread by word mouth, but by public forums and cowards! At least before, you might be told who said what about you. Now people can show how truly cowardly they are!

Btw, I'm assuming you all are trying to encourage others to keep trash talking by setting the record straight. You seem a bit showy about your knowledge of the laws. Hell, you guys might be done of the worst ones on here!

No one is arrested for slander; it's purely a civil matter, no criminal penalties. Did any of you people get past elementary school??

You're a smart ass that does have a brain! I never said they were arrested for slander, I said that they had slander charges as part of their arrest charges in their mugshots. Arrested for other things and had a slander charge with it! You can look at several mugshots and there will be slander attached to it. I never said that was the reason they were arrested. Do you have a fu€king brain in that head or are you an educated fool? The only thing that's smart about you is your ass! Like I said before, with your bragging about being educated, you're trying to encourage people to trash talk. You're one of the biggest shit stirrers out there! Besides your claim to know anything, who'd be foolish enough to listen to someone like you anyway? All we have are your words. We don't know who you are. We don't know of any documentation to back your claims. Claims that you're educated in the law or otherwise. I prefer not to trash people just because I might have that right. I don't appreciate anyone encouraging people to do so either. I know plenty about several people, I have something called self respect. I don't like playing with people's lives.

Seems maybe you should of stayed in school because quitting after preschool did your diapers no good. Freedom of Speech?, Hmmmm, I believe it's Constitutionally correct enacted by congress way before you or I were around. I never said that slander or deflamation of character were arrestable offenses, only civilally chargeable offenses if proven but can become a criminal offense in certain circumstances. If only you could read and/or comprehend what it actually was that you were looking at trying to put words together with your own meaning, not what was truely spoken. If you need a bag of diapers, I can afford to buy you some? I'll even buy you a book.
