Actually, I believe it is all about the money... when I was there, the richer kids never put up with any crap from teachers or staff, but the ones who didnt have much always got picked on and nothing was ever done about it. They should be stricter this year with as many students as they have but they are just the same.

I agree I have no choice but to send my kids to wayne co schools I miss monticello Ind. Everyone was so friendly and helpful and at wayne co everyone is rude mean and bitter. They should do their jobs that's what they get paid for

I think like anywhere there will be people that agree and people that disagree. I don't know how Monticello treated their students, I have no first hand knowledge of that. All I know is the condition of the school when Wayne County took over and it was horrible. It was rat invested, roaches, ants everywhere. Literally the most disgusting place I had ever been in. So just because of that fact alone, I'm glad Monticello was shut down. Those conditions are not appropriate for children to be in.

Maybe it became rat, roach, and ant infested when the Wayne Co stuff was moved in. It was clean and perfect for students when it was actually Monticello. By the way Two Cents...invested is different than infested.

I hit the wrong button. Excuse me. And no. Ask any Wayne Co staff member that was forced into that building. Everyone was talking about how filthy it was. Had to spend days scrubbing that place before we could take care of our own stuff.

Well I was one who was also there in the old building. It was fine when we moved out! It was clean and I was perfectly fine letting my family go to school there. However, things could have moved in once school was out. I can't speak of the condition after June. Check food inspections too!

Neither school is worth the ground they are sitting on. All the money for Monticello School went in pockets, that's why the school went belly up and had been that way for sometime. Wayne Co. might be better if they ever get rid of the superintendent and get someone new in there that cares about it and not just waiting for their retirement. So..IMO...they both suck!

I agree with needing a new superintendent. But people in power tend to always be that way.

Just remember that there is another option for those not happy with Wayne Co. Immanuel Christian is going through 8th grade now. It's really changed a lot over the last few years and is growing like crazy.

Maybe we should put the officials from Monticello in there since they did such a great job...Oh wait that's why the school closed...mismanagement. I believe a lot of people have hard feelings against WC, but it is not their fault the school closed. I would think that people would be more grateful than so fussy. It is going to take a team effort with this transition. Sometimes adults create more problems than what their worth. If your not happy then move your kids somewhere else and stop whinning about it.

Monticello school was always a clean facility. Had the greatest staff and teachers maybe the board of education went sour but the school its self was excellent everybody was like family teachers cared always had a open ear to students who needed help or maybe a student who just needed a friend to help with a bad time those teachers were there. Versus my experience with wayne county they didn't care about poor lower class kids and students who ask for help they look at you like your trash. Sad days we live in not to have a school system that sees everybody as equals.

Why would any parent be grateful towards WC when they obviously made a decision not to send their children there while Monticello was still in operation? The situation my not be WC's fault, but that does not mean it is a better school than Monticello was. The actions of a few ruined it for many. I don't dislike WC because Monticello shut down, but from the experience of attending the school growing up. The school leaves much to be desired in the realm of education. Most of what I learned there had to be unlearned going into college or was not properly prepared for. The school is too big and let's too many of it's students fall through the cracks and abandon them all together.

Then do everyone a favor and send them else where. If you think Monticello school did everything so good with out politics then why did they get into such a mess.

Why can't we all just get along? I don't thing anyone is thrilled that Monticello had to close. The Monticello students, teachers, and parents DO need to be grateful. You're right, they didn't sent their kids to Wayne County, but now Wayne County has taken them in. A lot of people worked hard all summer to get things ready, and it doesn't do anyone any good to sit on the computer and gripe. I agree, it's going to have to be a team effort. Everyone...EVERYONE in this situation has had to make adjustments and many sacrifices, so I think we all need to act like adults instead of whining.

It's not just limited to this school. The government has corrupted public schooling to the point where it is more propaganda than truth. There are many things that kids are being teached at public schools that are based on political 'wisdom' of bureaucrats instead of actual experts. Also, don't forget the school lunch program and other questionable implementations made by the government.
