I wonder if Obama will take credit for that.

If it's passed on a federal level (it likely will), it won't make a difference. He can take credit for it. If a the state doesn't, they'll have to then.

he will probably blame it on the previous administration after prices skyrocket due the hike. the minimum wage only provides more taxes for big government. it hurts businesses, it hurts the economy, it solves nothing. it creates problems.

it is the bottom line intended for non-skilled labor.

to the one who makes 10.15 now - you won't get a raise. you will be making a nickel above minimum wage.

If it stayed the same, do you really think prices would stay the same?
When the prices of utilities go up, they say it's due to ice storms, to offset the costs of repairs. Why doesn't it go back down, after there's been a significant amount of time to pay for this?
When there's droughts,or a deep freeze, our crops suffer. The prices go up and never come down.
Natural disasters, our insurance goes up, never down.
Our government even gives relief funds for these events and they find a reason to raise prices.
It's a crock! The rich get richer and you'll keep defending their right to do that. We get poorer and it's okay.
People want to make fun of those that work for minimum wage, why? Everyone likes their cheeseburgers, their discount prices. You wouldn't have these, if it weren't for them. I've heard people say, those jobs are only for teens and if adults work there, they are deadbeats. These teens have limited time they can work and not everyone is college material. They deserve respect.
If everyone strived to be at the top, none of us would have those nicer things. We'd all be in the same boat.
It's the little man that puts those at the top!
This system can't work, if they can't live.
The mega wealthy doesn't even invest in our economy. They put their money in foreign banks. They buy their fancy things from foreign country's like Italy and France. Then they get all the tax breaks and "incentives" (aka welfare).
Just remember, most if us are closer to the bottom than the top, so you need to think about who your alliance is with!

Why is it the top two percents fault you stay in the 47%? The truth is if you want out of the 47% that's your responsibility to do so not the government or the top two percent. The problem with the liberal agenda is that is doesn't work. Robin Hood is a good story but robbing the rich to give to the poor simply does nothing but keep people poor.

If minimum wage never increased, how are people supposed to survive, once the price of everything had gone up? If minimum wage increases are really the only reason prices go up, once they're up, then what?
Again, we need these people, if we want the services they provide. Teenagers can't always work these jobs.
Never mind, whatever your answer is, I'm sure it will be a smart Alec one.

No smart remarks but raising the minimum wage really won't help anyone. While it may be a feel good action it hurts everyone. A person in business is there to make a living and they won't eat this cost they will just addit into the price of their product or service. Doing something about the cost of living would be a much better solution for everyone.

Not everyone went out back to get high just before sophmore economics class.

listen up smooth-brain....

when minimum wage goes up, guess what else does?
who pays for the wage increase of the cashiers? not the business owner, but the people who buy low end commodities - cable tv,milk, bread, "pop", frozen food, toilet paper. Items made by minimum wage employees. Think of all the stuff you buy on a regular basis at walmart every week. it's not about cheeseburgers and mcnuggets as it is by people who help bring the low return on investment items to you.

vegetables are not affected by minimum wage so much as by weather - because their labor force is immune to taxes.

high end commodities like cars and televisions are not affected as quickly - these are items the government already earns exhorbitant taxes from.

bottom line - to the uneducated, the idea of getting more money for the same work is the golden goose to your problems. In reality, all it does it fund a bigger government in order to gain more control over the mindless.

The best thing though is that the increase will abolish tipping in restaurants.

minimum wage is for those unskilled in the labor force. kids today go job seeking for management positions - they have no idea what "work" is.

and with perry county schools pumping out kids every day that have not learned the basics for college or the workforce we should force our kids to learn arabic so they can understand the doctors at arh

how are you supposed to survive? quit thinking all you ever needed to know you learned in middle school- and above all - shun the notion that the perry county board of education promotes: Cheating and Lying will get you promoted.

When those chips fall people will not be surprised. What goes up, must come down.

I've been poor so I do get it. The difference is I never felt like a victim I got offmy A$$ and went to work. I'm not supporting anyone I but I don't believe anyone owes anyone anything because they have put the time in to be successful.

Yea I think it's just dumb the way they do things! I agree with the one poster early in the thread about what people already make that work somewhere. If they wanna add a little to the minimum wage that cool BUT everyone who works somewhere should get the same amount raise! It's not right that a person has been working at a place let's say for 6 years or so and making say $12 an hour then someone brand new could now get hired in making so close to what the long term person is. That's not right. People get raises for staying with a company for so long, that's their reward for continuing to work there is generally they get raises every so often. They should always have to stay the same proportionate amount above anyone that is newly hired!

What Caused It To Go Up???.....{What Was It}....That Forced The Business Owners To Raise Their Prices Over The Last Few Years.....When Minimum Wage Hadnít Budged???.....

I Have a Theory.....But I would Like To Hear What Your Opinion On The Subject Is....
