My Thanks.<quoted text>I believe there is a reason you survived and are thriving. First off for what its worth its helping me come out and accept myself. I am 51 yrs old and am just now becoming comfortable enough to accept that I am gay and to disclose it to others. To be treated in the manner in which you have been treated and to remain strong in your convictions gives me the strength to stand up and say I am gay and I deserve the same rights as everyone else.
If you haven't seen "The Times of Harvey Milk" I urge you to get it and watch. I'm "the boy from Altoona Pennsylvania".
The night I saw that Harvey was elected I called him. We spoke over an hour. I asked him if he ever wanted to talk about what we discussed if he would say I was from Altoona.
I was calling from Wilmington Delaware. He asked why he shouldn't say I was from Wilmington. I told him I was born in Ohio and once when I visited and told my old friends I was living in Delaware they thought I had moved downstate (There is a Delaware Ohio south of where I was born).
More people know Altoona PA than they do Wilm DE. So we agreed that whenever he talked about me he'd say I was from Altoona. That way some gay child somewhere would know they were not alone.
