Did anyone else see this tonight on US 27? It was between 8-9pm. Police officers were escorting 2 school buses from what I could tell and I was wondering what was going on.... Anybody else see it??

I saw it too while I was getting gas. No clue why they were escorting the buses though. Strange.

Surely, our tax dollars did NOT put gas in those cruisers for them to escort buses for a freaking football game!!! That's B.S.!!! There are so many important things that our Officers could be doing and I don't put football games in that category!!!

What a Scrooge you are!! FYI, there were also 2 cruisers at the games last night. This is absolutely an appropriate use of our taxes. Take your sour attitude elsewhere.

I think the Officers at the game is appropriate, but an escort is just too much!!! Why would they need an escort? And I don't see how I have a 'sour attitude'... I'm only voicing my opinion and since I started this discussion why would I have to go anywhere? You are entitled to your opinion and that's your right, as I have the same right... Just because my opinion doesn't match yours, I'm sour.... I guess.

It is called respect and hospitality nicholasville was hosting a visitnich.com bowl. And having all these extra people in town brings more revenue to lots of businesses that appreciate our tax dollars being used this way. Respect.... You are a grouch. Lay off the police. Have some respect.

I agree, Jessamine County should put less money into football and use the money to support the Arts in school.

Oh yea the Arts is always last. And so much talent, real gifted talent is lost. Throwing a ball, breaking heads, backs and necks isn't a future. These kids are going to have so many medical issues when they get older! I have heard of escorting in a winning team back to town but just for shits and giggles. Crazy. Definitely a lot of wasted money is always used in the sports world.

Oh yeah? Please tell me how it brought money into our town at 9pm... What they all went to Walmart afterwards? Oh I know, they all went to Waffle House afterwards, right? And lets see after the game was over, it was probably pretty late, I'm sure the buses went to our beautiful downtown area and shopped!! And let me make one thing clear,'Jackass'...I'm not giving the police a hard time, I 100% support our police department!! I do NOT support escorting a bunch of rowdy footballers to their game.
I think it's funny that I'm being called names because I think that our police have better things to do than to escort a football team to the high school!! Lets see, maybe that's because we are NOT a crime free town and I think that's where our officers should be focusing their attention... I'm weird like that, I think taking care of crime should come before smacking asses with the football team! But hey, since the footballers go shopping at Polka Dot after the game and they all probably went to the Cottage to have some dinner... It'll be fine... Oh yeah, that's right it WAS WHAT TIME WHEN THE GAME WAS OVER?!?!
Btw, I'm not a grouch, I'm a realist...
Can I give you a suggestion, worry less about the stupid high school football games and a lil more about the thieves that live next door, or the druggies that lives 2 streets over or the rapist that lives just behind you. Just saying...

I really don't think it cost a lot of money for a cruiser to drive from West to East. I doubt if the ones are complaining even pay taxes.

Well, it was more than just an escort from West to East... I followed this escort from Kohl's (I came from Kohl's, the escort was coming from the direction of Lexington) all the way into town... Not just from one end of Maple to another... And you can doubt whatever you like... I pay my taxes and PLENTY of it!!
No, my 4 children do not play sports... Each are involved in other activities within their schools and church. But just because they aren't into sports DOESN'T mean I don't know what they are doing...lol. I can tell ya where each one of my children are, one is in bed already (the youngest), one is in the shower(second to youngest) and then my second oldest is on the phone with my oldest who is off to college...my future doctor. And EVERY SINGLE DAY/NIGHT I know where my children are and who they are with and what they are doing...It's called being a real parent. But since this wasn't about MY CHILDREN or my parenting skills... It was about the police escorting 2 school buses into Nicholasville.
So, basically as long as this escort was for an 'important' football game then I guess my opinions are stupid... Thanks everyone for clearing all that up for me!!
I just had the question of why the escort... I got my answer.. Thanks... I have way too much to do to explain my opinions to everyone... So, y'all have fun...

You sound like an ignorant redneck. Some children are actually more concerned with their education than making some silly sports team.

The ARTS Is much more than a paint brush and pencil! The ARTS Is always first to be cut at schools and it should be given more than it is. I feel you cut one activity then cut them all down to make it fair!

I agree Arts are important and are much more than paint brush and pencil. The sports have also suffered from budget cuts. But if your child is into the ARTS..get your butt out and raise money like the football, soccer, baseball and basket ball Boosters do. I know how much funding goes toward my childs sport and I can tell you the parents\players did fund raisers to raise twice the funding the school provided.
