I work for Windstream as a Tech , First off I understand most of youre complaints .....They are accurate but here is the problem the plant is about 50 years old and the company refuses to spend the money to upgrade,replace or maintain it.Which leaves us in a horrible situation I've been in the industry for 15 years now and in ky we have the worst plant around.I have only worked for them about 1 year now and have plans to go back to a real company. But anyway why i am writing here is to give advice, if you have had numerous outages and youre service sucks what you should do is file a complaint with the public utilities commission. If a number of people do this they will hear the message loud and clear.

Yes, I dumped Windstream a couple years ago. I dont have internet anymore, but its better than giving my money to windstream.

I filed a complaint with the bbb against windstream regarding their support,customer services reps, and billing.Their response?? They said that I hadnt paid my bill, I looked at the account number they provided on the response and it wasnt even mine! I refiled a complaint and nothing has happened. I am supposed to be billed 59.95 a month for basic service and instead they are billing me 88.00 plus all the great taxes and fees they add on...i have no choice on phone service..that has to be against some law right??

I live in the sticks and had Hughesnet for 6 years and dropped it like a dead skunk for Windstream DSL. Unlike most, I am generally happy with Windstream speeds (they could do better on the UP side) and I love the usenet inclusion. Every year or so my connection craps out and I have occasion to call tech support. Don't do it. Just wait a day or so for one of your neighbors to go through the mind-numbing support protocol. The connection WILL come back. Take the time to read a book, bond with the family, or clean up your file system. It WILL fix itself.

And to all of the haters, just try Hughesnet and you'll see what the definition of bad really is. I for one LOVE Windstream DSL. Especially compared to Hughesnet.

I have been saying this for years, and I will say it again. You can moan and groan all you want, they have your money already, they do not care. After they get your money, they are only going to do the bare minimum.

Cancel the service, that is the only way to get their attention, you want a solution, here it is. Cancel their service, and then they will change their ways, or go out of business which would be the best thing.

If you are only going to come onto a public forum and piss and moan about it and then go write them another check, then you get what you get and well deserved at that. You are basically paying them to give you poor service. It is sickening how people let corporations walk all over them, hell and even pay them to do it.
