All non-profits, religious organizations, churches, and the like should pay property taxes. Once this happens we will be on the road to abolishing property taxes altogether.
This sounds like self-contradicting logic to me. Fist you mention that the state should expand property taxation to churches, nonprofits, etc. Then you go on to say that this will lead to the abolition of property taxes.

How do you figure? If they are going to abolish the property tax, simply abolish it. Expanding property taxation to churches won't end property taxes...it's just more people paying more money to line the pockets of crooked politicians.

Religions should be relegated to the same level as fan clubs. How are fan clubs treated?

how about we take away tax exemtion from schools, hospitals and government buildings too. They benefit from police and fire protection. heck, let's tax the police and fire stations too.
The difference is that those organizations actually DO provide a benefit to the community.

Churches do far more community work through giving and volenteering than most people realize. And this is paid for by the church from after tax dollars collected on Sunday.
SOME churches do. Many do not. And those aren't "after tax" dollars; they're not taxed at all.

Services provided to our communities would be in jeoprody if chuches had to pay property taxs.
Services would be more sustainable if churches paid their fair share to support them.
