Corner of Water and Main Street. I wish them well, but that is a doomed loction. It's next to the creek, and caddy corner to the stinkin' Lewistown Hotel. Many establishments have come and gone in that location.

I've seen so many restaurants fail over the years because people get in the restaurant business without the proper knowledge and experience.

What happened to the location up on fourth st where the pizza place moved out of and Zimmies had a sign up that they were going to open there.

I was told that these are the people that are opening the restaurant in the old Romas building, that when they are done remodeling that building they will be moving up there. Mel and Dottie's lease wasn't up and these people took it over for them.
It doesn't seem to be a good place for a restaurant, thats for sure.

It seems to me it would be expensive to move your restaurant several times.....

I was told that they are taking over the lease until it expires, they are using the current owners equipment and then moving to their new place. It would be nice to have a restaurant in both places, but the location in town doesn't seem to do well.

If they are going to make it in either location they need to hire higher class help. The last thing I want to see when I walk in a restaurant are a bunch of scruffs standing by the door smoking with fishing tackle in their face, and their underwear sticking out.

These are the people who are going to prepare your food and serve you? No thank you.

How do you know what their help looks like, have you seen them first hand? Have you been in one of their restaurants?

I was talking about a comparsion between Mel and Dotties. If Zimmie's is going to succeed they need to hire higher class workers than Mel and Dotties.

I have never been to Mel and Dotties,so didn't know what type worked there. I agree with what you said about the employees and their cleanliness.

You know, I was thinking about this and you're right. Remember Papa Phils? I thought that place had really good food at decent prices. It must be the location.

So I went and tried out "Zimmie's". The food was ok, nothing spectacular by any means and maybe a tad bit overpriced. The menu is VERY small, not much to choose from but that might just be temporary until they get into their new location. Two things I did notice though:

1. They had 3 waitresses working. That seems nuts for a restaurant that probably has less than 15 tables in it (I didn't count them but there are not many). As long as you can afford it and still turn a profit I guess it provides for good customer service, but it seems like overkill and will leave the waitresses with smaller tips when they only cover 2 or 3 tables tops.

2. There were numerous misspellings on the menu and signs throughout the restaurant. They really ought to consider having somebody proofread for them to provide a more professional look.

Anyhow, I may give them another try later but I wasn't overly impressed.

No, even though it made have appeared that LR wrote the signs and menu's with all the Mispellings, I can insure you it was not me. Could you imagine what they would have looked like if MILROY would have written them, People in Lewistown would have thought they were in another country trying to figure them out.
