Yesterday gas went to $3.05/gal that is the highest I've seen in Lewistown Pa. As you see in this forum last year on Nov. 24 it was $2.19. Its really hard to believe just since 2003 ,gas went from $1.31/gal to now $3.05/gal. They are again comparing us to Europe where they been paying much higher numbers for a long time ,but they never mention what other taxes they pay compared to us. If they don't pay taxes on other thing that we do, How can you compare us to them?

They ain't done yet the price of gas just went to $3.09/gal, but that's not the worst it gets ,Fuel oil, heating oil went up to $2.89/gal and winter has not really started yet. The government won't even notice when they are using you tax dollars to buy this high priced oil under the Energy Assistance Program .They are probably the biggest buyer in Mifflin County.

Another six cents today here in Lewistown, Pa . Now the price is $3.15/gal. for gas and fuel oil, for the minute, is still $2.89 but that won't last long. I heard today that the government just filled up another oil tank for $600.00 and it didn't cost the homeowner a dime, Us TAXPAYERS paid for it under the Energy Assistance Program, and I bet that homeowner could care less what the price is. Their tank is full.

Take the tax off gasoline and then it is again cheaper to buy gas than fuel oil. Why is that,it take less refining to get fuel oil? That is why fuel oil was always cheaper than gas,now we are losing any common sence here in America. Have you noticed it will soon be cheaper to go to the grocery store and buy a chicken than it is to buy a dozen of eggs ,Why is that? Then you can buy soda, soft drink, or just plain ole pop depending what generation you grew up in as to what you call it ,but it is cheaper than bottled water. A case of oil was 24 quarts ,now they want you to believe 12 quarts is a case. We use to require that all products you buy have a weight on the container , now if you look at laundry detergent, they done away with the weight and advertises that it does "x" amount of loads. What kind of measurement is that, it depends on how much you use for each load. Certain things in life were meant to be simple without question and we are losing that though this Corporate Greed.

Not only that, but fuel oil is not supposed to be taxed. So tell me how something that is refined WAY less and not taxed is only a few pennies less per gallon, if that?? |

That's exactly what I said, Take the tax off Gasoline and it would be a lot cheaper than fuel oil ,which is not taxed. Why is that?

Ok, So they want to play their games in order to raise the price,Think about this ,If you are a farmer, you can buy off road diesel fuel, which is nothing more than fuel oil. That is why they added dye to fuel oil so they could tell that truckers were not using heating oil "which is not taxed" in their trucks on the highway . By the way ,I think this dye is also the cause of all these roofs with red to black colors on them. But if the farmers can buy off-road Diesel fuel, then why can't we buy off road diesel for our furnace without any tax. Now that would screw-up their idea of dye to determine the difference.

What a difference a year makes, The comment above was Jan. 2007, Oil was about $55.00 a barrel then, today its about $117.00 a barrel and the price of gas is $3.65 /gal. So when it comes to an election , Why would anyone want to stay the course we are on? |

They are not done sticking it to us yet. Today the price of gasoline is $3.79/gal and the price of #2 fuel oil is $3.99/gal. Fuel oil was $2.89 just 6 months ago. It went up $1.10/gal in just six months.

What can you do? I personally quit burning fuel oil (heat with pellet stove now) and have switched to a more fuel efficient car.

There is still a few days left before Memorial Day, so the oil companies are going to try their best to hit the $4.00/gal mark here in Lewistown. Today it went up another six cents to $3.85/gal for gasoline. My neighbor got fuel oil yesterday and it was $4.09/gal. and they told him it was to go up another twenty cents today.

Can you figure this one out, our president was just over in Saudia Arabia to ask them to produce more oil so the prices quit going up. Right before that time ,Saudia Arabia did just increase the production by three million barrels a day. So they said the production was up with the demand and they would not be increasing it further. When the president gets back home, the news says that Saudia Arabia will produce more oil. Now today the price of a barrel of oil goes to $132.00 a barrel. Why, because production is not meeting the demand. Can they make up their mind?

Since the price is getting so high, they say some pumps will not read over $4.00/gal so they are allowing them pumps to sell gas at half gallon price, which mean you double what the pump says. That's scary, Remember when we use to get our light bill ever 2 months, but when the cost got where people starting watching it ,they changed it to every month so it doesn't appear to be so much. There was 24 cans in a case, now that changed to 12 in most cases, and we have rebates where they put this rediculous price on Items and then give you some off. This half price idea on gasoline will probably do the same thing, to take the attention off the high prices and people will except it. When you get your heating oil tank filled up and it cost $1000.00 ,it won't matter if you pay for 550 half gallons or 275 full gallons ,it is still a lot of money .

Last week the price of oil went up to $135.00 per barrel, why, because of the demand for oil, not producing enough to meet demand, now this week the price of oil came down a few dollars, why, because of a shortage of oil, oop's isn't that the same thing? No, This time it is because they are slow to unload the tankers in the Gulf Ports. What's next. So this is the fault of the US. and the other times it was the Arabs fault.

Right after I wrote the above comment, I went to Lewistown and guess what, gasoline just went up another six cents to $3.95/gal. So oil came down and gas went up . Sounds familiar.

With all the flooding in the Midwest, places like Iowa, the corn belt. They say that prices for corn could go up 80%. Remember they already take from our food supply by using corn to make fuel. We are doomed one way or another. We don't have oil for fuel and now we are not going to have corn for food. Dig deeper in your pocket.

If you ever spent time in the Military, One of the jobs that was used as a punishment, cleaning the grease pit. Today with the high demand for energy, people are stealing grease to make fuel. Does that mean now we are going to raise animals, like pigs, for the fat content since they say animal fat is not good for humans anyway. Here again when you add money to the mix,the grease pit becomes not that bad after all.

So the price of oil fell again to a 7 week low , but here in Lewistown,Pa. the price of a gallon of gas is stuck on $3.99. Why is it not going down like it does when someone hollers boo,and they raise it .

Take a trip outside of Lewistown. Most places I visited over the last week are OVER $4 so I'm content if we stay at $3.99. Anyhow, that's the way it always is. On any given day I can find you gas prices in towns within 60 miles of Lewistown that are higher and ones that are lower, it works both ways. |
