I believe they should destroy this building. Only the privileged children get to perform there. It ha no use to 90% of the public. Plus Andrew Carnegie was a womanizer and racist.

So many people have zero ambition, absolutely no desire to better themselves, and are content to just pretend to be victims of those that are richer and more ambitious than they are. everyone in this country has the same opportunities to be whatever they want to be. They are only limited by their own intelligence and drive to better themselves. Many of the rich people in this area started with nothing except the drive, desire, and intelligence to make their fortune. Quit envying what others have, get off your ass, and go get yours.

Lots of people have businesses and thus income that derive from what started up as a family enterprise.

That is the way things are supposed to go.

The strength and ambition of youth build for the future, and in so doing secure themselves and their descendants (to some degree) from want and privation.

It has happenned this way since before money was invented, see?

This reminds me of the expression that you are either a generator or a drain. There are both kinds in most families, mine included.

If the generators in your family put in the hours and the sweat to make somethong which lives on after them to the benefit of their children and grandchildren, then GREAT!

How on earth can anyone complain about people with talent and determination who are willing to preform for people. If I were rich it would not have provided me with talent, determination, courage...the things that Carnegie Hall opens it's doors for. If you have an act - offer it! If you don't it has nothing to do with privilege.

Not true at all.
Anybody can rent the auditorium.
Your daughter may not have been able enough to cover the rental fees.
Try renting the facility for her next party.

Well, I am talking about the fact that my child actually did perform on stage at Carnegie Hall and it had nothing whatsoever to do with the school she attended.
All the performances sold out, so the ticket sales covered all costs.
SO, don't think that on account of going to one or another school Carnegie Hall HAS to give your child an opportunity on stage!
That is not how it works. You are simply wrong.
Sounds like your child never earned the right to perform by virtue of talent, but you can still see her up on stage performing because the stage CAN BE RENTED, just as I said.
Take your own advice and avoid being such a dip!

I don't have a dog in tis fight. However you cannot deny the fact that certain schools perform there than others. I think that is what Sam was trying to say. Yes anyone can rent out the hall. That was not the point he was trying to make.

Dance is so popular here that good shows sell out.
Ever noticed how many dance schools there are around here?
My daughter danced on Carnegie stage because she was in a dance group.
Her dad did not pay a dime.
Her performance won rave reviews.
SO Sam, try again NOT to be such a dip.
The nobody that didn't give a shiz was YOU when YOU didn't give YOUR daughter the opportunity to dance, and train, and put in the MANY HOURS OF HARD WORK that it takes to get rave reviews dancing on the stage at Carnegie Hall.
WHY DIDN'T YOU?
YOU let YOUR daughter DOWN!!!
