Tommy Garten and Pat Johnson of Covington have announced the sale of their three dealerships to Robert “Dizzy” Garten and James “Jay” Justice III. The dealerships involved are Alleghany Motors and Alleghany, Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge in Covington, and Alleghany Motors Pre-Owned in Lewisburg.
Current plans call for combining the Covington dealerships into one large, new facility. This will allow them to offer more inventory, additional services, and make it more convenient for customers.
Tommy Garten said he sees this as a great opportunity for the community and for Dizzy. Garten said,“It is exciting to bring the Justice family to Alleghany County, and it gives me time to do some things I have been wanting to do”. Garten has a variety of business interests in the region.
Pat Johnson says the new owners will bring a lot to the business. Johnson said,”It will be very positive and exciting. It is a new era and it is time to let these young people do it”.
Dizzy Garten has been managing the business, and said he and Jay Justice have worked together on many levels and said he looks forward to bringing some new ideas to the business together. Garten said of Justice,“His energy, work ethic, experience, creativity, and community oriented approach are the kind of things I want in a partner”.
Justice said his companies have purchased hundreds of new vehicles from Alleghany Motors and he likes the personal touch the Garten family offers. According to Justice,“I like the way they do business and wanted to be a part of it. This will be good for everyone”.
The sale should be finalized June 1, 2012.

I can see it now... "Buy a 2012 Silverado, Dodge Ram or Jeep and get 2 "free" passes to the Greenbrier Open AND admission to a Meet & Greet with the savior of the Virginias himself: Jim Justice! Oh yeah: Tiger, Phil and Toby Keith might be there too..."

So, Jim Justice hired Charlie Henthorn as soon as he was out of prison, and now he's buying Tommy Garten's business. Now why would he be involved with these two. hhhhmmmmm

Ya'll talkin about little JJ? That boy is so dumb I'm suprised that boy can find his way back home after he gets off the old mans jet at the Greenbrier Valley Airport! What a dumbass!

They may say it is Jay buying the dealership, but he's using Daddy's money to do it! I just wonder why the Justice family is such good buddy's with the Henthorns and Gartens.

Close...he hired Charlie BEFORE he went to prison. Guess Tommy finally decided not to rat JJ out but to make a little money off what he knows. Ok now, what's the common link people? Are they buying with cash or will there be any financing in the deal? Any guesses where that financing would come from? Hmmm, very interesting.

I have always thought it was strange that Henthorn, a bank president, would risk everything for $10,000. For someone making the kind of money he was $10,000 is not much money!

Doesn't take much to figure out that Charlie took the fall but hey, when you make as much as he has from it, why not? Compensation has been good for them. So much the public doesn't know about then or now. Oh well, the rich get richer.

What boggles my mind is the respected people in the community who become involved with JJ. Aren't they afraid of how they will be viewed after the JJ era in Greenbrier County is over. Surely the recent election showed them what people think of those close to JJ.

He owns everyone. They would rather conform and keep the lifestyle they are accustomed to or want than to do what is right. He won't live forever and then what?

And just when I thought Alleghany Motors could not get any more corrupt. I am sure they will keep that sleeze D. Carter.
I wouldn't trade nickles with them, you end up four cents short.

Rumor had it whenever all this happened several years ago that Jim allowed the Gardens to run up a A huge gambling tab at the Greenbrier. Then the Gardens couldn't afford to pay the tab so Jim took the business.

Word on the street is Justice owned a majority of the dealership until someone got caught with their hand in the cookie jar. The cookie jar had roughly $1m in it from an advancement by GM, but was empty in the end. It was either give up their share or face criminal charges. Who knows if its true, but it must be because he's now selling used cars next to Walmart.
