In a register herald article, Jim Justice references the lessons to be learned from kunte kinte, a character in a movie about slavery which documented an African American family's struggle through that tragic part of history. Justice makes reference that although Kunta, a slave, could not change his status there is a lot to be learned from it. He then goes on to mention that his players are told about Kunta Kinte and then mentions that he does not tolerate cussing or disrespect. He does not allow players to wear multicolored socks or that they cannot wear their pants low. He specifically mentions an African American player by name and called him a "big boy" in the article. All of this in reference to coach Jim not tolerating disrespect or discipline problems.
Interesting enough, Kunta Kinte was exactly that, a discipline problem for his master resisting his european name "TOBY" and running away from the institution of slavery so much that his foot is eventually cut off. What an excellent example into the mind of a racist superiority complex. To use Kunta Kinte as an example of discipline, status quo, and socio economic standing to his African American and white players simply goes beyond the pale. Coach Jim wants the point to get across that just as Kunta had to be disciplined by cutting off his foot and beaten, his players also will be disciplined and must understand their place in the world. The socks must be "WHITE!"

Read about Jim talking about discipline of his black point guard for wearing socks that did not match and about wearing his pants low. Kunta Kinte had his foot cut off for not respecting the plantation owner much like how jim runs his team.

Justice is all worried about what guys wear and showing respect. How about him paying his damned bills? How about respecting the people to jump to his tune and providing goods and services to him and his businesses and paying them?? He's an a$$ wipe. The rich get richer because they don't pay their bills!

Yes indeed, that's the way it goes in the world of Jim Justice. Heard he & The Greenbrier never paid their dump bill! It's the dump for God's sake! And a landscaper that got stiffed because his Mrs. didn't like the color of the flowers! No partial payment, no discount, just tough luck man! And someone needs to say it out loud, the man has no class, he's a low rent district, sleazy, unkempt, loud, obnoxious slob. Bet folks with REAL class feel greasy after he pats them on the back!
Good luck

His involvement in the school system, in my opinion, is ALL ABOUT HIM. His name is on the gym floor, his name is on East's electronic sign when the team wins (usually listed before the team name), and who knows who is in his pocket in the school system. I believe he recruits kids so his name can get more press. It seems to have zero to do wirh helping local kids. It's ridiculous and can't go on. And goodness knows he isn't recruiting kids who are amazing academically because those accolades would do zero for his ego. And therefore the local smart kids don't get that kind of support to build what they're doing.

Why recruit players from other cities and states? Are the local players not good enough?

A good high school coach builds the character and skills of the kids, no matter the record. End of story. That's not the current coach's agenda. Disgusted.

They don't get the chance to develop or they say what's the use.You work and practice for 4or 5 years only to have JIM bring in someone from another state or city in your jr. or senior year. All to bring glory on himself. But it backfired this year. Some things in LIFE you can't buy.
How to Stop it

Chesapeake, OH

Have your kids play AAU League and Big Jim won't have enough for a team. Jim can t recruit enough players to have a full team. This will stop it. Also, everyone get together and quit talking about it on Topix and Hire ( key word ) a good lawyer like Barry Bruce and put a stop to it. It's time the citizens take back over and not let certain individuals have such an influence.
OK but

Sounds good, but,I was told at the Brushfork Armory when confronted with the accusation of recruiting JUSTICE said sure I do,PROVE IT,I'll bankrupt you.He also uses AAU when scouting for players.Levi Cook is in his sights for next year.
