I don't understand what is so sad about people wanting to know who this was. If a DARE officer that speaks to my kids about drugs has a drug problem then yeah the public he is serving has every right to know. I wish him well & hope he recovers but it sounds like he needs to step back from his duties & help himself recover.

just because someone takes an overdose, does not mean they have a drug problem. Have you ever been truly depressed? Sometimes things just get to you, alot of times, it's a snowball effect, bad few days at work, argument with spouse, unexpected bills creating a financial hardship, death of a loved one, etc. Alot of times, overdoses are not planned in advance. Victims of depression sometimes just come to a point that they feel there is nothing worth living for, no other way out. It is usually spontaneous, not well thought out. Perhaps, life had been stressful for this person, perhaps they did the right thing and went to their doctor and was prescribed some meds to help them cope. Then someone or something, probably someone on Topix bashing them, pushed them to that spontaneous point & they became so overwhelmed and down, that those actions "seemed" to be the best option at the moment. When these people get to that point, they are irrational, they're not able to focus on anything but "making it better". I myself have overdosed, and I certainly do not have a drug problem. I had been working many hours, was physically & mentally exhausted, took my blood pressure pill in the morning, that night I couldn't remember if I took it or not, so took it again. The next morning, out of habit, took it again...ding, ding, ding...overdose. I know there are bashers and haters everywhere, but until you have truly been in that situation, let God be the judge, you certainly are not worthy of such a task.

Accidental may have been your case.

I hardly think you were ever in charge of a DARE program!!!!!

Alllll people are asking for is the badddddd situation not to be ignored specifically in the professional area!!!!!

Let him obtain recovery, yes obvious it is needed.

administrative leave.......apparently with pay. Better hope they order appropriate counseling. And take him off DARE Program, otherwise he goes on taxpayer money to DARE conference for another free vacation!!!!!!!!

It is DH!!!

If they ignore his distraught actions they put Lewisburg PD at risk, as well as community.

Yes it was David Howard and he did overdose on xanax's which were prescribed. He allegedly had an argument with his idiot girlfriend who threatened to break up with him. He needs to dump her ass. He is recovering and will probably have to retire!
