With all the negative comments about Lewisburg government and how outsiders have taken over who would be some good life-long residents to take their places during the next election cycle. If you want change, you need to start now and get the candidates out there. As of right now only one member of City Council is a life long resident. Including the Mayor none of the remaining members have lived in Lewisburg more than 15 years with the majority less than eight.

We need jobs, better park facilities and someone who doesn't kiss up to the overrated downtown merchants. Moreover, someone who will stand up to the State and get us a bi-pass.

Brandon Johnson, Scott Beard for Council. There is one guy who is working for the city now that should run for Mayor, he knows his stuff and would clean house in favor of the hard-working people of Lewisburg.I don't want to call out names but most people know who am talking about.

I agree with many of the names that I have read above. I left WV a while back, but I still try to keep up on things. Tom Voss is a wonderful and very intelligent man, I think he would be perfect for the council. Gene Flanagan is yet another great suggestion. He has seen Lewisburg change over the years from the comfort of his barber shop. I know he isn't there anymore, but I bet he would be one of the haircut spectators if he was elected! Jim VanMetre, ex-asst fire cheif, worked for the state road, he has connections that would make him very valuable in the council and finally Bob Surgeon, wonderful man, christian to the end, and quite intelligent as well.

If Carver does not run for mayor, he should at least run for the county commission and keep his job as director of public works. He's the guy who knows infrastructure and can get some business to locate in the county to create some jobs. Additionally, I thank Mrs. White would make a great Mayor.

I do agree it is time for some change in our fair city. From what I can see most of the emphasis is and has been placed on the development and look of the downtown over the past several years. The idea of placing bathrooms in the alleyway beside City Hall is simply ludicrous. Although the mayor and council may think, they are acting in the best interest of the citizens they are sadly mistaken.

Not since the current administration has been in office has there ever been any discussion on development in the creation of jobs. Somehow the city government believes that everything they do must be about either the pampering of the downtown merchants or the general appearance of the four blocks between Lee Street and Church Street. As you may have been reading lately the zoning of the city is a joke. The holding down of commercial development will only lead to the city's slow death in the real world of financing. Unless something is done soon to promote responsible growth and create positive tax flow things are sure to get worse.
