they ain't Union!! Can't strike, but can quit.

BUT, I do think if the community would come together and Boycott Walmart for a week to show our support of their workers who deserve better pay and benefits, as it use to be. Of Course, can't get all the community for justa week not togo in there.

Walmart should be closed..... A day spent home with family friends and love ones not working. There is nothing in any store worth making all those employee's work. We can all wait until black friday so now we have black thursday too... Come on all these stores should be closed. Be thankful and enjoy the day. Happy Thanksgiving

I can't believe workers are complaining about having to work! good grief people, what do you expect when you apply to work at Walmart or any other retail store? you will work on the holidays! and weekends! be thankful for a job, really.
if you don't like the pay you receive, then get another job. it's that simple really. can't get another job? then you should get an education. there's all kinds of student loan programs and grants if you just look for them. you gotta work to get anywhere in this life! unless you enjoy the food stamp program.
and walmart isn't going to close on Tday. too many shoppers go out for the early sales...proved it last year. this will be the new normal.

Anyone who thinks Walmart is the only store that is going to have ppl working on Thanksgiving is either clueless or a total idiot. In that cause u better boycott all the gas stations while u are at it cause u know they are forced to work on Thanksgiving and Christmas both

None of the stores would be open if people didn't want them to be open.
There is a need for some things to be open, not all places, the stores open because people demand it then gripe because they are open. Probably not everyone is old enough to remember when almost every store was closed on Sundays, now how many are closed?? If people didn't demand to have 24/7 - 365 (almost) service, the stores would not be open all the time.

The workers are not striking because of working on holidays. Know your facts they are wanting better pay, better health benefits, regular working hours, and better, safer working conditions. WalMart treats their employees like slaves and expects you to work overtime off the clock so they don't have to pay you. Walmart management treats hourly employees like dogs.
The Walton family has a total net worth of 89 Billion dollars and they have the hard working hourly wage workers to thank for it. The majority of Walmart employees get paid so little that they are still eligible for food stamps. Get your facts straight before you act like it's over something so silly as working on holidays.

No the problem is that ppl just dont want to work and need to have some excuse not to work. Actually Walmart pays the same as any other retail stores.I know this because I have worked at other retail stores and actually making more at Walmart than I did there Secondly they even include health benefite for part time associates which as far as I know no other company does. Try working for Kroger (which is a union job) and u dont get any health benefits at all. And the junk about being forced to work off the clock is total BS. If u work off the clock at Walmart u will be fired on the spot. There are some who are happy to have a job there cause in some places jobs are few and far between

Worked for Walmart for 5 years and know exactly what they do to hourly wage employees and no one is complaining about working weekends, nights or holidays you idiot. How would you like to have your hours cut from 40 hours to 18 or 20 hours just because the company wants to cut your vacation hours or sick leave, or avoid giving you benefits. I find it amazing that some of you can be so callous. I have an excellent college education and started my career as part of the management with Walmart. Because how I was told to treat the hourly wage employees; I could not lower my standards to meet their criteria. I will not work for a company that makes you treat your fellow workers like dogs. Sounds to me like some of you should apply for work with this company, you would probably fit right in.

i know a woman who has been told to come to work at 8:00pm work until 2:00am, and then back at 7:00am till 3:00pm. then she will have tue, wed, and thur. off...so she will not be getting any hours this week but what she does get will all be in one day...so i understand walmart will make a killing in one day and there poor workers will get nothing..the should at least get overtime for all they work after 8 hours in one day..

You will never find a job then, all management, at any job, has the goal to cut hours, and save the company money. You are a idiot that has no clue about life and the real world. All the workers came to Wal-mart begging for a job, and agreed to get paid whatever without benefits. The company hired them, and now all of a sudden what the workers agreed to isn't good enough for them. Well they are idiots too.

Your total ignorance about my life is laughable. I have been in upper management now for 25 years with a VERY profitable company and make well over $!00,000.00 a year plus bonus twice a year, with health and retirement benefits. There are company's in America that are major money makers and don't find it necessary to treat their employees the way WalMart treats theirs. There are lots of ways of making money from inside the company without slave labor. Walmart owns it own sweat shops in China, Pakistan etc. and pay the workers over there as little as a $1.00 a day that's why they have so much foreign inventory to sell to the American people and that's why they can undersell the mom and pop stores they have managed to put out of business. I imagine that most of you that get on here and bad mouth the people that are struggling to make a better work environment and conditions are the same ones that voted for Romney the Bain Capital company harvester, that just like Walmart invests in foreign countries and wants American workers to accept the same conditions that they use in other countries. Or you could just be jobless losers that think by bad mouthing working people it makes you important.

Everyone working at WalMart, and that includes the managers, is only doing what the rest of us are doing - trying to make an honest living. The big brass at Walmart is only trying to amass a fortune and drive all the competition of of business. Have you ever listened to Allen Jackson's song "The Little Man".

Everyone on topix is computer savy so look up
