What does everyone think about the teachers at GEHS???
I think they need to get rid of them all and bring in a younger happier group!! Especially the math department... the school has the worst math grades in the entire STATE!!

I believe our school is doing the best that they can do, considering we live so far away from any major metropolis. Though some teachers are a bit "out of date" that does not mean they are bad teachers. If anything is out of date it is the school itself. They continue to tell the students that they are 21st century learners yet they are not aloud to use technology. I can see it being a problem in a class room but now with the new cell phone policy more and more kids are getting in trouble, even students who use their phone in lunch are getting written up, this seems absoulutly outrageous! If a child has any kind of technology they should be able to use it for emergency and when they are done their work, I know many teachers allow students to listen to ipods while and after they are working because it lowers noise in the classroom and it helps students work better.

It has nothing to do with technology. Would you sit at work all day talking on your cell phone? It would be a disturbance if you allowed every child that was finished their school work to use their cells in class. I don't think they should be allowed to use ipods in class either working or not.

I agree with tom! GEHS has the worst math teachers in the state of WV!! only 40% of the kids pass Mrs. Kestersons,Painters, and Bennets class. The other teacher Mr. Maloney got thrown out for 22 days for trying to fight one of his students... I blame Mr. Bryant he is way in over his head, he doen't deserve to be the head principle.. He is VERY fake and all of the kids despise him. Mr.Tharp deserves it, the kids have respect for him because he is on there side!!

I think the place needs a big shakeup and clearing out of those that are there because that is the only thing they know to do .... and don't take into consideration that they have a responsiblity to teach our children ... not run over them. Heck the principle wanted me to take my son to the counselor for possible drugs.... the counselor at that time WAS A DRUGGIE. That school of horror will never get another one of my children to program.... BEAR DOG OWNING, POLE DANCING or REDNECK is not a social aspiration of my family.

oh wow, what a topic and where do i begin. just this morning my daughter called me upset. One of the teachers is harrassing her for having swine flu (and she isnt even sick), made her move seats 4 or 5 times, kept telling her not to touch anyone or anything, and then kept telling her she was gonna die! Im outraged at the moment. My daughter isnt even sick, not even a sniffle. And for a teacher to openly harrass a student in front of everyone and tell her she is gonna die is outrageous. Now the teacher is going to write her up for not going to the nurse. This is not my first such outrageous incident. I have had papers (that i was filling out) jerked out of my hand and thrown across the hall. And every incident I have tried to have resolved at that school always turns out the same, the moment you step in the door the school is on defensive mode and wont listen to anything you have to say. And they definitely wont do anything about it.

I graduated from GE several years ago and have seen major changes in the appearance of the school but don't know anything about any of the teachers that are there now. I can honestly say that I had some great ones but some that were absolutely terrible as well.

I would have been to that school so fast and pray on the way that I didnt put my hands around this teachers neck. I say just because you are a teacher it doesnt give you the right to treat a child this way. A teacher may have a degree but I think they need to use alot of common sense.

I know Mr Maloney and this just does not sound like him! May I ask what the student did or said? Let me tell you also that when the goverment took punishment out of school that is when our system went sour!! Student's know that they can do or say anything that they want and nothing can be done, how sad!Parent's invest in a tractor trailer lot of tissues because we are going to need them when all the kid end up dead(made sure ther ready too go home),or in prison,at an early age,and believe me it won't be Mr. Maloney's,Mr. Bryant's, The Math teachers,The science teachers,Oh No it is going to be the PARENT'S fault for thinking there perfect and do know wrong! So go on and order those tissues your in for a big surprize!!!!I have two school are children I know there is none perfect!

EXACTLY! and thats why i wasnt at the school this morning. I calmed my daughter down, told her she isnt going to die, and am waiting to see if the teacher writes her up. If that happens this isnt over by a long shot. The incidences have added up to the point where we have considered pulling her out of east and driving her to another school.

Whoever commented about the math department being terrible is exactly right.

I failed geometry in 10th grade with Mrs. Painter. Everytime I would ask for help she would make the student sitting next to me "tutor" me. The problem was that the kid beside be didn't understand any of the stuff she was trying to teach us either. I think about half of my class ended up having to retake at least a semester of geometry the next year.

I took geometry again in 11th grade with Mrs. Tincher and passed the class with a 98 average. The huge difference between the classes was that Mrs. Tincher would take the time to make sure that everyone understood what was being taught. I'm fairly certain that everyone in that class passed with at least a high C.

Unfortunately for East, Mrs. Tincher transferred to Greenbrier West.

I know for sure that Mr. Maloney takes his time to make sure that they know it also,I can tell that math was not your favorite, sounds like the 2004 math class in Miss. T class was all bright, the other math classes must of had the lower grade kids. That has been five years things have changed.School sucks why not let them drop out and but Dead Beats?

The kid in question is very rude and he threatened to hit him i would have busted his ass, there is a problem that kids think they can treat adults however they want. I didnt grow up like that their was a line you didnt cross, lets face it most kids dont have that.
