Get it right they were trying to save him, at great risk to themselves. He was suicidal and had a shotgun. Did he make it? i prayed for him last night while this happened

A Greenbrier County man is dead after he was shot early Monday morning by Lewisburg Police.

Investigators say city patrolmen were dispatched to a home where a man was threatening suicide. Officers were able to get a woman out of the situation and to safety and continued their attempts to negotiate with the armed man.

Talks with the gunman deteriorated and he came onto the porch of the residence and took aim at officers. One of the city officers fired a single shot and struck the man. He later died at the Greenbrier Valley Medical Center.

Police have not released the suspect's name. The officer who fired the fatal shot has also not been identified publicly. He has been placed on administrative leave, which police say is standard procedure while the incident is reviewed.

Death by cop. Horrible for officers to deal with.

With all due respect, please do not discuss this on here for the families sake. They are great christian people and this is a tragic shock to them. Please, I beg of you, to respect the family and leave this off of here. Thank you very much.

Y couldn't they use rubber bullets, bean bags, tear gas, tranquilizer, there were way more other options other than killing him! They could have shot him n a non fatal place!

If you ever find yourself in a sitchuation were someone is come at you with a gun, you can't think about slowing him down. You must stop him. shot to kill it's him or you. this is a fact of life in the real world.

This is a very sad situation but prayers also need to be handed out to officer dove. He must be an emotional mess. I'm sure he didn't want to have to do that. He too is a good guy and will have to live with this for the rest of his life, job or not.

A very bad situation. If the officer had not acted, he would be dead, and Buddy Propps would have been shot by the other officiers on hand anyway.
