My child appreciates every child on his team, and he encourags them when they are down and helps them when they are struggling. This wasn't something that was taught by his coaches, this was taught to him by his father and I. My child is not Mr. Cal Ripken but he gets back exactly what he puts into it. My child works hard, on the field off the field, and any free time he has to improve at a sport he loves...and NO HE IS NOT A COACHES CHILD! No sport is perfect, and there will always be that parent and child who complains and is never happy....However, I don't see how pulling a child from a team sport is helping him/her. Your teaching your child that giving up is allowed, instead of pushing harder and proving people wrong with their sterotypes (Just my opinion). You don't have to be that nosey parent at practice who trys to intervene every 5 minutes...but you can be that parent who stays and watches and shows an interest...It shows when your child is actually watching the parking lot and looking all over while he/she is suppose to be concentrating on baseball...As parents we have responsibilities too and it's not all up to the coaches.

Why are kids leaving the league in droves? The same people are on the board year in and year out. The same coaches coach every year. Why? Not because others are not willing but because they are not allowed. Following the crowd and taking mine out next season.

well, believe it, because they had a hard time getting coaches for the girls I KNOW! Look, the issue is that your never going to please everyone. If you have a problem with the league, take your kids somewhere else.... And see that you have the same issues there as well...

I was a board member for 7 yrs in which 2 of those I didn't have a kid in the league. And obviously not worried about hiding behind a crazy name. MCYBSL is a good organization for the kids of MC although they, like every other youth organization, has its ups and downs. Those good and not so good people involved. Not everyone can be made happy all the time. With that said, the board members spend lots of time trying to make the season run as smoothly as possible. Free time I might add!!! And yes it is difficult to find people to commit to the responsibility of being a manager of these teams. Not so much for helpers, they seem to be plentiful. With todays hussle and bussle, not many people have the time to dedicate and be held responsible for the manager duties of a team. Its one thing to help when you can, another to take all responsibility on yourself. Not to mention the unsatisfied, if any, parents that the manager has to deal with. It's so disheartening to hear those that bad mouth the league without really getting involved to see what its all really about. I'm not saying its a perfect league by no means, but it is and has been told to me by visitors from Florida and Georgia and other states that we have one of the best looking parks they have played in as well as lots of good people to go along with it.

First off I don't live in Marshall co. Or had a kid play there. But I am so sick and tired of weak cry baby parents that want stuff for nothing for their kids. I work around 70 to 80 hours a week in the spring summer and fall but still have time to practice with my two son's. They play baseball basketball and soccer. I make it to almost all practices and have never had a coach turn me down when I offer to help. Instead of crying because jr don't get playing time get out there and practice to make him better. If you believe every kid should get a trophy I would rather you keep little jr at home. Teach your kids to be winners and not winers. Coaches only have about 3 hours a week with your kids if they suck its because of the parents. My youngest son play's outfield other parents complain about it even the coach says he is best player on team. But if the other parents came to practice they would know he is the only one that can throw it back to the infield from the fence. So quit being weak .ss parents and get off your .ss and do something. It don't just go for youth sports look at america get off your butt and do something.

All of the board members are there for one reason. That is to promote their own kid or grand kids.

JT, same complaining different year. It is what it is people. Volunteer to coach, little tougher than you think. The ones who know me, will not dought I speak from the heart. Coaches have 12 or more players on there team.It is a tought spot to be in. JT can say the same thing, when we coached, our kids had to practice extra because we did not have the time to work with our own till everyone else had left to go home. Support your kids coach, he is trying to do what's best. Parents are the ones who complicate things. Please read the following....
Everyone has a job, coaches coach. Players play. Parents encourage and cheer on the team. Umpires control the game and enforce the rules.
Now the problems arise when the following things happen. Coaches try to umpire, instead of coaching. Parents try to coach or umpire, instead of cheering and supporting. Umpires try to cheer or coach, instead of enforcing the rules of play.
Everyone has there own job. Concentrate on yours and let the players play. Enjoy your kids, these times pass to quickly to be upset.
