Could a major landslide happen near Lewisburg like happened in Washington State?

Could that Mountain of Trash that seems to grow larger and higher every day, with little to no solid rock walls, become the next major landslide that might happen in the US?

Anyone know or wonder what might keep that from happening as the garbage rottens and the rain might form a lake inside that then empty space?
How tight can rotten garbage be packed to prevent a major landslide?

Did Alice really have to go down the hole or was she just after some drugs?

Are boogers salty because of Global Warming? Are our elected leaders actually being control by an alien race who thrive on garbage, forcing us to collect it all for them? Are they using the methane to refuel their spaceship?

Is that what really killed the preacher? Did he discover the truth? Will the garbage cause a landslide vote that keeps feeding garbage to the aliens? Are they also stealing our electricity, and being covered up charging extra fees?

A landslide. We could have an opening of the ground as in sinkhole and or an earthquake.

Was there a wreck or some emergency before 3 pm, this afternoon?

Did you say stealing electricity? I don't know if you could call it stealing, Did the Lewisburg Electric give the City back pay for what was it reported as 7 years of overcharges for Street Lights?
Did any of those City Council Members or Mayor at that time even ask if the people had been over charged for 7 years also?

Just remember if could the Dump mountain trash does slide like the mountain in Washington, earth quake, sinkhole or what ever were you told?

Neither one of you know what you are talking about. A few minutes of using your brain (if you have one) and doing a little research would tell you why any of these thoughts are ridiculous.

In Washington, the landslide consisted of an outcrop made of 500 feet (compared to the valley) of soft soil drench with water. People had even been warned this could happen due to all the rain the area had got. Conversely, the landfill is only 60 feet (compared to surrounding land) of compacted garbage, sitting inside a rubber seal with plenty of designed drainage to catch runoff. Even if it were possible to washout, it has no where to go, unlike the valley that hillside fell into.

Sink holes are unlikely due to the limestone bedrock we are sitting on. It could happen around caves and such, but not to any extent we see in other places like the deeper south. For the same reason, earthquakes will NOT be felt here unless it is a MAJOR one off the Madrid fault. There certainly wont be an earthquake here because, again, of the bedrock we sit on.

This is why there is no hope for America. Even with all this wonderful information at our fingertips, people are either too stupid to look for it, or too lazy. Rather than question themselves and research the possibilities FIRST, they just blurt out the most stupid things they can. You are an embarrassment to our county, state and country.

My dear

Have you lied again?

Read what you right "Sink holes are unlikely due to the limestone bedrock we are sitting on"?

Have you read about the sinkhole just a few years ago talked about was it at that very location ?

Read article "TDEC nixes landfill expansion" in the local paper 12-18-2009!

You really are a stupid moron. I wasn't talking about ONE sink hole, I was talking about the area as a whole. Man made sink holes happen all the time, especially near any underground plumbing. I never said we could not have sink holes, I expressed how we don't have sink holes like Florida, or Louisiana, or other places where the land is unstable, unlike the bedrock we live on.

Learn to comprehend what you are reading.

Will mix, Garbage Trash, dirt and mud built mountain high on a solid rock bedrock, will
over the years may as times passes and trash rottens, fills inside with water may come tumbling down, like a moutain mud slide full of rotten trash?

Would bedrock be worst as it might not let the water drain out and there by form a lake inside as the rotten garbage creates a vaccum of space and fills with water?

No it wouldn't because of it's design and where it is located. It is not a mountain, it is barely tall enough to be called a hill. Have you ever read studies on how garbage breaks down?(It doesn't leave an air pocket behind to form anything. It creates methane that is released through vents). Have you examined the design aspects of Cedar Ridge? I know you have not, because you would not be say such stupid things if you did.

Again, landslides in landfills are not unheard of and I know of others because I searched that out already. There was one in California as well. Still, what you have not taken into account is federal oversight, design improvements made (especially since 1996), and more. Yes, landfills can be very dangerous to the environment and more if not built properly. There are also heavy fines if this occurs as your article points out.

However, your original argument compared our landfill to the Washington state 'landslide' not garbage slide. In addition, there is no residential build up around our dump as there was in Washington state. And of the homes in the area, they are situated far enough away, and the contour of the land would not allow a devastating mud flow, or garbage for that matter, that would reach those homes. You have now switched gears.
