It is a shame this city is so closed minded. Our new mayor needs to promote local businesses. What is he doing with all his time? The people of this city are afraid someone may make a dime.

that place is a lost cause, it should be ripped out and start from scratch. but even if you do that folks here will not support it, if they or their family is not getting anything out of it, then they will not support it, lots of greed and envy here

I hate to speak negative, but you are very right about the greed and envy, and if you don't mind, I like to throw hatefulness in the mix.

I could not agree more. They find things to say bad about any outsider and if the person is a Peter Perfect like person, they would call him a Yankee just out of hatefulness. It is a shame. I wish all businesses do good but this is a sorry butt place to have a business. So little money and so much hatefulness.... and did I mention hatefulness? I was in Marvins today and no one was buying anything. You need to want to better yourself and property for a place like Marvins to succeed. Don't mean to sound pessimistic but I don't see any business kicking it here. I don't care how long you lived here, out of jealousy they will not support them. I know a lot of business folks and everyone says the same thing. The ones who say they are doing great are lying to you just out of self pride. I wish I never came here. I wish the new mayor would turn this place upside down and I wish we had a new county mayor who wants to help """"" Everyone""" " not just his friends..

Every negative comment on this thread is wrong as far as my experiences go. And could someone give me an example of some person or some business that can specifically identified that has been subjected to it.
It being jealousy or rumors. Because with out some facts this is nothing but heresay.
I constantly see this theme in threads on Topix. Starts off as one thing and spins down to back stabbing and back biting.
I can only figure that it is a disgruntled few that jump in and do this any time there is something positive or new happening in Lewisburg.

OK
Maybe you can explain the nasty attitude the long time locals have against outsiders and folks who bring their business and services to this city.

I know of businesses that hammer outsiders, quietly among themselves. Most don't know me as an outsider.

I am not going to give in to your brainless request and name them on the net, that is something you may do.

Maybe you can explain why we are a city which 50% of the population is on some sort of government assistance.

Have you had any children in sports here?
Maybe you can go out on your one inch limb and tell me that all outsider children are treated fairly by locals who coach.

Maybe you can explain why we have such an unpleasant reputation in this city and county by those outside looking in.

I know we are in your face with other areas about our sports teams which stirs hate against the area and really we don't have too much to be all big chested about in that category.

It has nothing to do with the internet and what people post because this place proudly held it's reputation of hating and not supporting anyone who is not from around here long before Al Gore invented the internet.

I want everyone to do well and yes my entire family shops here and sometimes with those who really don't appreciate outsiders, but we do it anyways because we have no hate and are team players.

If not the attitude of the people, it must be the water? maybe it is the terrain? Maybe it is air quality? NO it is the attitude of the people. If you are in denial, you too are the problem or too dense to see.

If all this is not true, I guess we can just write it off as mystical "hearsay", but spelled at bit better.

The fix? Have those who are in positions of running the local government change the attitude of the people by leading by example.

Have them open their eyes and speak out when things look a bit fishy or hateful attitudes are shown. They probably won't because...

Again, Have not experienced it.

I know of businesses that hammer outsiders, quietly among themselves. Most don't know me as an outsider.

Let's have some names, otherwise this sounds like Blah, Blah, Blah

I am not going to give in to your brainless request and name them on the net, that is something you may do.

Last time I had an MRI there was a brain. And yes I would if it is factual. But here on Topix people and businesses get slammed and no facts to back it up.

Maybe you can explain why we are a city which 50% of the population is on some sort of government assistance.

And the United States as a whole. Socialism is the answer to that question.

Have you had any children in sports here?
Maybe you can go out on your one inch limb and tell me that all outsider children are treated fairly by locals who coach.

No children so nothing here.

Maybe you can explain why we have such an unpleasant reputation in this city and county by those outside looking in.

I have answered this before but will again. I have never heard one negative comment about Lewisburg from anyone I know. But it might be the people I socialize with. Most are positive people.

I know we are in your face with other areas about our sports teams which stirs hate against the area and really we don't have too much to be all big chested about in that category.

???

It has nothing to do with the internet and what people post because this place proudly held it's reputation of hating and not supporting anyone who is not from around here long before Al Gore invented the internet.

Not sure how to reply to this one.

I want everyone to do well and yes my entire family shops here and sometimes with those who really don't appreciate outsiders, but we do it anyways because we have no hate and are team players.

That's good of you.

If not the attitude of the people, it must be the water? maybe it is the terrain? Maybe it is air quality? NO it is the attitude of the people. If you are in denial, you too are the problem or too dense to see.

No denial or dense. But thank you for insulting my intelligence and social skills.

If all this is not true, I guess we can just write it off as mystical "hearsay", but spelled at bit better.

Whoops, I made a grammatical error. Went to school in Nashville.

The fix? Have those who are in positions of running the local government change the attitude of the people by leading by example.

Did you vote? Maybe you chould run for Office.

Have them open their eyes and speak out when things look a bit fishy or hateful attitudes are shown. They probably won't because...

People like you make this city the way it is. It seems you don't get out too often. Telling the poster to speak out at a meeting only makes them a target in this backwards place.

I just do not understand the whole "outsider" attitude in this town. I get involved in the community because I care. I vote, I go to council meetings, and no it does make me a target, as previous poster suggested. I also socialize with people in our community. When I moved to the south, I was told, "They were so nice, they made eye contact, they always took time to speak, say hello". I am not sure what has happen here. There appears to be some very unhappy folks. Take a chance and say hello to someone.

Last poster here. We do, we get hello and that's it. Most, once they hear our strong yankee accent they look away for reasons unknown. Are you saying a good part of locals do not have a great dislike to outsiders??? I didn't think you would want to lie or live in denial.

Actually I get out quite a bit. Everyday as a matter of fact. Go to work at my business, go to meetings, Chamber Events and many other functions. So I think I can speak with some authority on this matter.

I really believe it not all locals dislike "outsiders". I really don't like using that word. No, I don't live in denial, or want too. I get that all the time also, "you are not from around here. are you?" I want to be apart of the community. I have met many nice people that have lived here most of their lives, wonderful people. I choose to believe that there is a small percentage that are a bit backwards, towards others that are different. I do hope I am no wrong, Last poster here!!!

And you still think everything is fine?

You my friend are the problem if you think all is fine and people are complaining to complain.

I went to meetings, I spoke to people who can make decisions. Things are in motion by those above them and nothing a newbie can say or suggest will ever change anything.

Attending meetings and doing something to change attitudes are two different things.
Sorry, but, if you haven't noticed anything you are either in left field after dark or part of the problem.
