Twice now we have had packages not delivered and the postal worker, a substitute, said they did. Both times they claim they scanned the package and they even described the package so we know they saw the package. And they gave the same excuse both times, that they forgot to deliver and went back. Both times we had somebody at home and saw him go by but yet we did not get our package. Anyone else have this problem ?

they had a problem in Petersburg recently where the mail carrier identified the packages as meds from the VA for a sick vet. What type of packages were missing? And did you get them just not delivered or on time?

The packages did not contain drugs. One was just a halloween decoration and the other recently absconded package was a movie cd. Both were delivered or supposed to be delivered on a saturday and both times the same substitute was running the mail.

Not missing packages or mail that I am aware of, but my postal carrier is terrible. He never wants to shut the mail box door and it seems when I talk to the Post Master (about 5 times now), I am told the same thing. "Oh it was a sub working that day". Hummm, for the many, many times my box is left open; I must have a sub lots.

I have also noticed, when I talk to the post master, the next day my mail box is tampered with. Usually the door is pulled, bent. Once it was my flag bent in an accordian shape. Seems funny, only happens after I talked to the post master.

I made up my mind, that the next time it happens (damage to box or box left open..usually when raining and mail is soaked), I am doing formal complaint on the computer.(this last time I told the post master that I wanted to file a formal complaint and she gave me every excuse in the book and then said, one moment, left, came back 5 minutes later to tell me..once again, I had a sub.. Yeah right. I went down to the post office this time with my soggy mail to show her how bad this is getting.

They wonder why they are losing so much in revenue. Very poor service to say the least.

I also notice, many mail boxes in this town with the doors wide open..seems like an epidemic in this town.

Being a sub is no excuse for poor customer service. If the sub can't do the job they need to be fired.

We used to have this problem in the Glenn Avenue area. Our regular carrier is great, but occasionally we had a sub who would scan packages as delivered and then go "find" the package after I called about not receiving it. The sub was also bad about putting a notice in my box instead of taking the time to come up to the house when something required a signature. It hasn't happened in a really long time, so hopefully that sub is gone! Or maybe that one got transferred to another part of town? Our regular girl is awesome.

Place a small video camera in or near you mail box so it has a good view of the postal worker when she/he is damaging it. These days video cameras are very inexpensive and can be used by the average person, I do not mean a camcorder either. A simple remote camera that is very small and transmits the signal back to the house where you are recording the crime. It will work well!

I have postal workers steal my packages. They cut a slit in the box, remove the item, then cover the slit with brown tape. Then they deliver it. I am tired of receiving empty boxes! We need to do something about these postal workers. These "complaints" we file don't work unless the postal worker suddenly has a guilty conscience and decides to confess. How often does that happen? I feel so violated. I can't believe how unsafe it is to have a mailman come to your home and deliver mail. It's crazy. Why doesn't the police step in? Or anyone! There must be someone in the position of power who can do something. Lord knows my voice means nothing. I've been complaining for years about stolen items and the post master just shoos me away.

I have been wondering the past month why the samples I requested have never arrived. I live on Horseshoe Dr by the old hospital. I believe something is up.

The postal service in Lewisburg appears to be flawed with no hopes of correction. The actual postal employee in this area sometimes sends his children out to distribute the mail while he works his other job. The free samples the rest of Lewisburg receives in the mail are never seen by the homes on his routeabd while many of you can sit your watch by the arrival of the postal worker, ours or his children arrive at all hours of the day or night and occasionally not at all. Great service indeed.

Good luck infogirl, eventually I was forced to purchase a PO Box rather than have my mail stolen or distributed up and down the street to various residents.
Is China Hiring

Do some postal workers have too work another job, coach sports, open mail take samples, or coupons just to make ends meet?

Should they get a pay raise, better benefits, less work related stressful job and be appreciated for what they do for you?

Are the postal workers who work rain, snow, and 24-7 not called hero's and appreciated like the firemen, and police?

Is China offering high pay and better benefits to professionals like teachers, airline pilots, and American trained professionals?

Will if America don't pay these professionals more, offer better benefits appreciate their professionals so called public servants like teachers, firemen, police, career politicians and postal workers will they all may just up move too China and go to work, for more pay and better benefits?

Is it said you get what you pay for?

Do you all know gas price is going up?
Will America have to pay postal workers more pay and better benifits like the teachers, police and fireman or risk losing those too jobs in china and have to hire illegal Mexicians who might be willing to work for less?

Got ripped off? Report it here:

click on "mail theft" which will take you to the "File a Complaint" page. Find "mail theft" again and click on it. That will take you to the official form for reporting it. Even if it is a small amount, every theft needs to be reported in order for the Postal Inspectors to do their job.

What good does it do to report it if little to nothing is done, really what is being done?
Are any local Marshall County / Lewisburg City public officials from police to postal workers, department heads, County Commission, city Council members, and Mayors can they get by with anything, that other citizens might be put under the jail for?

Is the public beganing to question, do public officials cover up for other public officials?

What good does it do to do nothing? Im not surprised at your questions, and pessimism as I am use to it coming from you. however, for everyone else that is reading, I will explain it. The inspectors come under higher scrutiny than local yokels. but because there are fewer inspectors they will only pay more attention to cases that are bigger problems. Therefore, if there is a single worker or person stealing mail, the more reports the better chance of busting them.
