I ll never step foot in there again ! I took my family there , 2 of us had the buffet (Sat before 4pm). The chicken was bloody red & raw (bad enough that they pulled it from the bar after we pointed it out), the rest of the food was dried out , scummed over & cold . Upon asking for the manager we were shown nothing but rudeness & hostility .
So I went home & decided to call in on the customer support line & got a return call from the new & improved owner/operator just to get more of the same insults & degrading treatment . I refuse to spend my money on food that isn't safe to eat , very bad service & abusive/hostile customer relations .

PappaBear,

Are you talking about the Shoney's in Lewisburg?

If so I agree with you completely. My wife and I went to the one here in Lewisburg a few years back, and we also got the buffet for lunch. We went to get our plates and when I picked up the first one off the stack cockroachs went in all directions, must have been 3 or 4 hiding under that plate. We informed management and let them know we were done and would not be back.

Looks like some things never change.

my husband & i thought we would try the new Shoney's out, well the only thing new was clean really clean, tv in every corner. The important fact same slow sorry service & same tasteless food. WE will never get a place here that serves really good food, it doesn't look like, so off to Columbia or Cool Springs or SpringHill AGAIN!!!

I have been eating at the Lewisburg Shoney's for years. I've never seen a cockroach, never had rude or excessively slow service, and never received undercooked food. Either I have been lucky or they like me :)

I can't imagine them being rude unless your approach to your complaint was abusive to start with. Did you treat them with respect and use a polite tone, or did you act like an ass and expect a smile in response?

We need an O'Charley's. Mildred's is for the ol' folks and Shoney's only survives because there isn't a decent sit down in this town that offers an American menu.

Who in this county would or could support an O'charlies????
It would have to be 2/3 filled during lunch and dinner to survive.
No one would order anything of value and tips would be minimal if any. We dont have one for a reason.
We could not support anything of any class.
As for shoneys it is a little better because they are doing their grand opening hoopla. Ate there tonight, the younger servers still hang out in kitchen gabbing and do not take care of customers. They need to look out the windows at their ccustomers to see if they are looking for them which they shouldn't have to. The chicken was very dry....180 from original complaint. The greeter girl at the door is about 1000 decibals too loud. She naturally likes to yell and I guess they like it that way, we didn't. They still "only" appreciate if you wear a shirt and shoes. People who visit us always laugh at that sign.

this county could not support? is this just you assumption? what do you have to back it up? not saying you are wrong. i have gone to Columbia just for the o charlies so maybe we will draw others to this area for it too. i think part of your feelings is because of the mindset of some about lewisburg. as for shoneys and servers, a restaurant is only as good as the manager.

Simple common sense took care of that one. Besides a couple speciality shops, name me one other place lewiburg has that someone would go out of their way to see? When we go somewhere to eat we also go shopping or a movie. This place has over 50% on government assistance and the other only go where the good ole boys eat.
Besides, the major eateries all made their evaluations of the area and it did not even come close to support it or a consideration. if so, they would be here and drinking thing was just an excuse. The people would eat in the better places in their own city before they would drive here for the same.

well again yuo claim some things not true like 50% on assistance. also why make our roads wider if we are not growing? and would it make us look more normal to businesses looking for a new place if we have a mainstreme sitdown restaurant? walmart is always packed these days as are the food places so yes i think we could support an o'charlies. were are these major eateries evaluations you speak of? people like you are whats keeping lewisburg from getting better.

If you don't mind....... Walmart is set up for low income folks who do not frequent higher priced establishments. I believe the percentage of people on government assistance given was very conservative and looking to be worse in the near future
The roads was a grant given which was wisely accepted.

I too hope business picks up but the people here need to spend money locally and it looks to me the major eating establishments are not here for a reason, regardless what you think.

Why would a comment from a poster keep a place from growing or get better if it was wrong? Or right in that case?

I can handle this one too.
Why does eating out make you be considered lazy? Who thinks that way?

You are lucky I am on lunch break and near a computer or I would not give your comment a second of my time.

I am more than less answering this out of pity.

The new owner of Shoney's has made alot of improvements. The building, the interior has been redecorated, service is better, and the food is much better. Don't care much for one of the workers(pregnant one) know for a fact she has been a hellion for most of her life. Hopefully she has changed. All and all Shoney's is much better due to the new owner and I eat there most often. Will never go back to Mildred's. Food is not as good as it once was and the wait to be served is not as good as well.

I ate there a couple times this week. Food was good, prices were excellent. I had a pregnant waitress who was amazing. Very sweet, and brought refills when drinks were low and picked up empty plates in timely manner. Hope she isn't the one you are talking about. I would have to disagree.

That's because you don't know her pass like some people. Got pregnant the first time when she was in the 8th grade and gave birth before the end of the year. Parents divorced and would not listen to father. If she has not already dropped out of school she is probably in the 11th grade if she passed. I hope she has changed her ways because she is going to need a steady income with two children and not yet 20 years old. Take it from me she was a grade A Hellion at one time. Ask anyone who went to school with her.
