We have a local government of the government, by the government and for the government and to hell with the people it seems!

What is wrong even those people on local boards have they forgot they are appointed to over see and watch department management, not there to join management thinking they are employees of those departments forgetting they are over seers the public watch dogs of the people as to see that management is not making mistakes after mistakes costing the tax and rate payers more and more just look at the local Lewisburg City Debt over $26 million I am told $24 million is Water Department and $2 million Rec. Center Debt!

Yet is the Water Department board approving a new costly Retirement program and increased medical costs for all Water Department past and present managment?

Could not have said it better myself except I thought that the water department only borrowed 11 million dollars. Anyway they spend and we pay, I hope the board or the council does something about this and the sewer rates before something else comes up that we will have to pay for next year.
Can any retire at 55

Some say this last loan is to be for $13 to $15 million and maybe the State or who ever would forgive $2 million now the question is that in interest or loan, if loan then making this loan $11 or $13 million adding to Water Departments already over $11 or $13 million they owe, around some say $25 -$26 million the Water Department owes if interest so once the expanding gets well under way, would the water department could even need to borrow more just to finish the project but there is another danger what about Cornersville’s Sewer plant and sewer lines have you heard those are in the same shape as Lewisburg’s the public just not been told yet?
Yet the Water Department board with the help of management some say is improving and increasing their past and present management’s retirement and health benefits programs!
Have you heard that top Water Department management may retire early for does that new retirement program have the clause to allow some to retire at 55?
I heard the Rec. Center owes over $2 million but just wait the Rec. Center may be in the works for the need of another loan of $1 million or more for new roof, un paid interest on their some say over $2 million dollar debt, and past maybe present over budget operating costs.

Would that make the Rec Center owe more than $3 million?
Would that all combined make the City Taxpayers responsible for if all is true $25 to $30 million.

Then someone said that Marshall County owes about $75 -76 million all total Lewisburg and Marshall County well over $100 million Dollars alone, get real with property values dropping, meaning less revenue get ready tax rates maybe going up.

Please tell me that the water department isn't working on giving k.c. more money with all the problems they have been having with rate increases, sewer charges for unconnected customers, buying a broke water & sewer dept. in cornersville and borrowing of millions of dollars. Maybe there is no justice in this world or is it that the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

Is the Water Department Water board allowing them to improve the Water Departments retirement plans, as to lowering the retirement age limit too 55 and including past and present management, employees, even benefits to their widows and under age children?

Is the water department also going to cover all the costs of the some saying the 14% increase in that department’s health insurance plan?
Is this true

With the water dept. superintendent coming before the city several months ago and telling them that TDEC will fine the city thousands of dollars if their rate increse of 18% on water isn't approved, does anybody think that some of this 11-13 million dollar loan is being used for some of the thing mention above? Can that money be used for insurance, early retirement, benefits for widows, or is it earmarked for specific improvements that TDEC said had to be completed? Many people in this city would like to know I believe. Who are the board members and do they have a chairman and what do they have to say about these issues?

Independent or not if your property line is within 100 feet of a lewisburg sewer line you are going to be charged a sewer rate based on your water usage regardless if you are not hooked to the sewer. Also, septic tanks are self contained tanks where is waste is bioligical reduced over time by microbs that are aided by products like rid-ex. They are inspected and approved on an individual bases by the M.C. health department. If the septic tank quit working there are hugh charges to correct these problems.
Rid-x and other products do work on septic systems IF everyone used them and I repeat...... everyone..... It ain't happening folks. In the old days when your neighbors were miles apart,ok, but with consentrated housing, wells and springs are being contaminated. It's not a matter of if you will get sick from this but when. The health department can't be everywhere everyday.

Well said. It is only a matter of time. In some cases a septic tank is nothing more than an underground outhouse.

I think the best for everyone in terms of waste disposal is for as many as possible to hook-up and demand efficiency in our water and sewer utilities. At one point, our county had four operating utilities,Lewisburg, chapel Hill,Belfast and Cornersville. Why are four superintendants, billing departments, meter readers, offices and etc. needed? Just like our town and city-county governments. OUR CITIES AND COUNTIES ARE THE WASTE DEPARTMENTS.

Do you think they should let people continue to pay more and more letting the Lewisburg Water Department Board and Management spend, spend, then bail them out time after time, just how many bail outs and fines has that Water Department been bailed out of over the years, take the Derogative Derivatives Deals, purchase of Cornersville troubled water department, water lines to Fairview, Lynnville, water lines to Giles County line on the Cornersville side, Mooresville Hwy, Farmington, Belfast, Lewisburg City Water lines ran miles outside the Lewisburg City Limits, into rural Marshall County when Marshall County has its own water department, who lied to TDEC and EPA who pay those fines and then sit back let them reward themselves with more, better retirement programs and better health care, how many raises has management given itself, even hiring one of their own, without posting that job to the public, the water board allowed hired the past chairman of the water board for the ass. Manager to the now Manager, claiming that because he was on the water board, he was an employee of the Water Department if that is so, then does those on the Water Board receive more than $100 in pay for each meeting, maybe even their health care, retirement and other benefits as being considered Water Department employees?
Just how many water department management and employees live outside of Lewisburg City Limits and pay no Lewisburg City Taxes?
Septic Tanks last for years and working properly will fertilizer the lawn, grass, and trees.

Everyone hook well you got a state moratorium in effect that says no one else can hook until Lewisburg expands their sewer plant.

Looks like we spent our money on recreation instead of sewer improvements. If recreation is the answer, maybe we could spend even more on recreation, golf and etc. so we wouldn't need a police department?

All this writing about septic tanks, now I have to take a massive crap. I think I'll squat down by the creek. The downstream cows should enjoy.
